If you are a Research Technician looking for an opportunity to grow, Emerson has an exciting opportunity for you!  Based in our Sidney, OH location, you will work directly with Research Engineering and in collaboation with AC and Cold Chain Engineering to build, test, evaluate, and enhance prototype HVAC/R compressors, systems and system components in the Sidney Labs. You will use technical expertise to assess new technologies and will provide technical insights to engineering and lab management to enhance testing methods and processes.   

AS A RESEARCH TECHNICIAN, YOU WILL: 

• Build prototype compressors using a variety of hand / power tools and specialized equipment including ovens, presses, band saws, mills, lathes, and welding equipment 

• Test prototype compressors using a variety of equipment including calorimeters, mass flow stands, life test stands and chiller testing rigs 

• Build prototype HVAC/R systems and test using psychrometric testing chambers

• Effectively install and utilize power analyzers and other data acquisition equipment to collect critical information for projects

• Evaluate new technologies and work with engineering to find new and creative ways to test and collect data needed

• Communicate project status with engineering teams and lab management 

• Work with lab equipment maintenance and builds

REQUIRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE & SKILLS:

• Associates Degree plus 1 year of experience or equivalent combination of education and experience

• Legal authorization to work in the United States - Sponsorship will not be provided for this role.

 PREFERRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE & SKILLS:  

• Associates Degree plus 3 or more years of experience or equivalent combination of education and experience

• Experience with advanced compressor builds

• Experience with chillers and centrifugal compression

• HVAC Systems / Systems control knowledge

• Experience with variable speed drives 

• Welding, Machining, Fabrication experience

• Experience with Microsoft Office 365 Tools
