What is a Retail Product and Channel Manager?

This position is focused on driving the RIDGID brand in the retail channel.  This role is expected to drive critical elements such as: new product development, channel marketing, strategic partner management, new business opportunities and business analysis.  This role is located in our RIDGID® World HQ in Elyria (just a little west of Cleveland), Ohio USA.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities


  • Build and apply product and customer knowledge to identify new retail product opportunities and specifications.

  • Lead cross-functional, collaborative new product development teams.

  • Build and apply retail channel expertise and customer knowledge to identify marketing and promotional opportunities.

  • Partner with cross-functional, collaborative retail channel marketing and operations teams.

  • Monitor and develop deep understanding of competition.

  • Manage product portfolios to maximize sales, profitability and ROI. 

  • Develop and execute long-term category vision and forecast.


Requirements


  • 3+ years of experience of professional product management, marketing or equivalent experience that demonstrates the requirements of the job

  • Involvement in new product development projects and project management methodologies

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Engineering or related field required

  • Willingness to travel for work (~30%)

 

Preferred Requirements


  • Experience in the hardware/home center market is a plus

  • MBA

  • Strong business acumen to gauge marketplace trends, the development of new technologies and products, and competitor activity.

  • Ability to communicate and present critical information to all levels of employees and customers to achieve assigned objectives.

  • Ability to effectively identify and resolve complex problems. 

  • Capacity to coordinate multi-year projects that have significant impact on the organization

  • The organizational agility, interpersonal skills and political savvy necessary to gain cooperation of several departments that do not report directly to the position.

  • Strong analytical skills – must be comfortable developing data-driven analyses to support new product recommendations, pricing decisions, and other category initiatives

  • Core Skills of planning, organizing and process management to maneuver with other functions such as, engineering, manufacturing, marketing communications and others
