Purpose


 


  • To perform electrical repairs, installations, inspections and preventive maintenance of electrical lines, machinery and equipment throughout the plant.

  • Comply with State and Federal safety and environmental regulations and Newmont policies and procedures.

Essential Duties


 


  • Perform all Technician 3 duties proficiently.

  • Computers manuals - Create and research existing work orders in Ellipse. Read, comprehend, and interpret instrumentation data sheets, schematics, P&IDs, blue prints and instructional guides. Demonstrate basic knowledge of computers. Demonstrate the ability to load and run equipment-specific software. Demonstrate proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, & Power point). Use Ellipse to procure parts from warehouse and review and enter equipment history.

  • Construction and code - Read, comprehend, and interpret the National Electric Code and install and maintain according to this guideline. Demonstrate advanced knowledge of installation and design of electrical equipment circuits up to 15 KV. Possess basic construction skills. Possess basic conduit fitting and layout skills (run rise offset, laterals, and saddles).

  • Troubleshooting and repair - Troubleshoot and repair electrical systems including basic wiring, circuit installation, cables and switch gear up to 15 KV. Troubleshoot, repair, inspect, and install lighting fixture, welders, grinder and power tools. Possess basic knowledge of control systems. Troubleshoot and repair field instruments and devices.

  • Programmable logic controllers - Demonstrate general knowledge and theory of operation for a PLC. Demonstrate basic troubleshooting and repair of PLC and associated auxiliary components. Identify components of a PLC and their function. Navigate ladder logic and identify faults. Demonstrate general knowledge of DCS and auxiliary components.

  • Variable frequency drives - Demonstrate general knowledge and theory of a VFD. Troubleshoot and repair VFD and demonstrate knowledge of associated components. Identify components of a VFD and their function. Navigate the programming screen and identify faults.

  • Motors - Possess basic motor knowledge to troubleshoot, repair, inspect and install electric motors. Demonstrate general knowledge of motor control starters and associated components.

  • Instrumentation and process control - Demonstrate general knowledge of flow, pressure, temperature, level, PH, and devices. Demonstrate general knowledge of control loops - automatic, manual, and cascade. Effectively troubleshoot and repair process instruments. Demonstrate general knowledge of process circuits, and their interaction with the process control instruments. Demonstrate general knowledge of control valves. Maintain accurate documentation and effective communication for installations, calibrations, and modifications of instruments.

Training & Experience


 


  • Experience in the operation and maintenance of electrical equipment used in the Industrial or Mining industries.

  • Electrical degree or equivalent experience.

  • Strong problem solving skills.

  • Proven ability to work effectively in a team environment.

  • Demonstrated ability to perform the essential functions of the job.

Working Conditions


 

This position is located at our Cripple Creek & Victor Mine Site in Colorado.


This position has multiple levels (which may range from level 1 up to level 6). The hourly rate offered for this overtime-eligible role will depend on the level, and the range of the hourly rate is $26.10 (Tech 1) - 40.24 (Tech 6). The hourly rate is tied to the Colorado market for jobs performed in Colorado.  The specific level and hourly rate that is offered to the successful candidate will be based on job-related education, training, and/or experience.  The hourly rate offer will not be based on a candidate’s wage rate history at other jobs, and by law, Newmont will not seek information about wage rate history, and candidates should not share such information with Newmont.
