Job Description:

WSYM in Lansing, MI is seeking a Client Content Producer/Host to join its team.

WHAT YOU'LL DO:


  • Receives assignment or creates and develops story ideas, content leads and tips for non-news local programming. Part of a team of producers and hosts creating stories for local non-news programming.


  • Video recording and Photography for a wide range of station projects, including local programming feature packages, tease bumpers, sales presentations, promotional spots and programming.


  • Gathers and verifies factual information regarding stories through interview, observation and research.


  • Works with clients, talent, account executives and commercial production with proficiency in EFP and studio productions to develop sales sponsored content.


  • Works with engineering staff to operate Live Microwave Vehicles and all related videography equipment.


  • Organizes material and writes story according to prescribed editorial style and format standards of specialized programming.


  • Shoots video and still photos to illustrate stories.


  • Edit video linear and non linear for a wide range of station projects, including local programming, feature packages, tease bumpers, sales presentation, promotional spots and programming. Familiar with digital based storage and servers.


  • Periodically appears on television program when conducting taped interview or narration.


  • May report live from business or event.


  • Drives company vehicle on various assignments.


  • Writes and produces stories for multiple media platforms; writes and posts content to the web.


  • Assists host at off site shoots.


  • Assists producer in preparing show.


  • Assists online staff in preparing for multi-medial stories


  • Reports, writes, captures visual content, edits and produces stories for multiple platforms on deadline, such as internet and digital channels.


  • Maintains local programming video and music library.


  • Maintains photography equipment and vehicle.


  • May appear or perform hosting duties of non-news local programming.


  • Other duties as assigned.


WHAT YOU'LL NEED:


  • BS/BA in related discipline or equivalent experience.


  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in related field with professional shooting and editing experience required.


  • 3 or more years of experience working in a commercial broadcast facility preferred.


  • Videography and non-linear editing experience preferred.


WHAT YOU'LL BRING:


  • Working knowledge of broadcast quality camera equipment.


  • Editing video on Final Cut Pro or similar equipment; Lighting and editing skills must be broadcast quality.


  • Must be familiar with EFP shooting end editing.


  • Knowledge of SDTV and HDTV shooting/lighting preferred.


  • Knowledge of After Effects preferred.


  • Computer literacy required, including newsroom computer systems.


  • Must be highly creative.


  • Strong team collaboration skills.


  • Effective communicator; Strong broadcast and AP style writing skills.


  • Must be able to work well under pressure and daily deadlines.


  • Knowledge and demonstration of editorial judgment, journalistic ethics and libel laws.


  • Ability to create quality work on tight timeframes and deadlines.


  • Proficient at posting content to various websites.


  • Highly self-motivated.


  • Able to work independently on larger, moderately complex projects.


  • Able to work effectively with sales sponsored clients.



  • Flexible work hours required, including holidays, weekends, evenings, possible overtime hours and on call.


  • May require overnight and weekend travel.


  • Valid driver's license and good driving record required. In addition, proof of insurance and liability coverage may be required.
