This role is responsible for implementing an effective control framework for Business Banking Risk. The Consumer & Community Banking (CCB) Risk Control Team's primary function is to implement and manage an effective control framework across the CCB Risk organization with the goal of identifying and remediating control issues with a sense of urgency, regardless of the source. The Chase Business Banking (BB) Risk Control team partners with all other CCB Risk and Control disciplines, adding an additional line of defense supporting Compliance, Risk and Audit, among others. The team also works in partnership on the development of new, and oversight of existing, control functions and protocols throughout Business Banking Risk and provides a centralized view of all control functions, assisting in immediate, real time problem detection and escalation. The team partners closely with Senior and Executive Leadership, Legal, Compliance and Technology as well as other groups within the Firm.
Responsibilities:
Direct engagement with all levels of management, as required
Stay abreast of pertinent industry practices, skills and regulatory concerns
Understands control framework and how it impacts the business
Ensures test work is focused on the most critical risk areas, effectively integrating business and system analysis as needed.
Oversight and management of the CORE (formerly RCSA) program for BB Risk Management
Define and implement the CORE program including Process Mapping, CORE test creation, issue identification, control rating and control testing
Support cross-LOB CORE initiatives to remain consistent with other Risk organizations control programs as appropriate.
Perform timely follow up on issues and action plans to ensure on-time and sustainable controls have been implemented
Focus on self-identification of issues through CORE Testing, including remediation recommendations when required
Promote collaboration among all teams within CCB Risk and Control organization
Facilitate end-to-end process walkthroughs and deep dives with assigned business units.
Takes initiative and independently manages complex projects and apply advanced knowledge of risk and control concepts and how to apply to business processes.
Critically evaluates, interprets and synthesizes results to identify and summarize risk themes, in addition to preparation for senior management reporting for control functions and Risk Committee as appropriate.
Partner effectively with the business and functional colleagues to guide consistent and rigorous operational risk management practices, including risk committees, risk & control self-assessments (COREs), risk acceptances, privacy reviews, risk event analysis, operational risk/loss management reporting, and related action plans.
Articulates complex issues and themes to stakeholders, independent advisor to the assigned business, identifying business issues, root causes and recommending both short term and long term action plans that address them.
In partnership with the audit/compliance assessment team, provide substantive guidance/advice to business partners during all phases of internal and external exams regarding deliverables and potential issues.
Qualifications
B.A./B.S. degree required
7+ years Risk and Control or other related experience required: in banking or financial services industry preferred
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, including ability to negotiate, compromise and demonstrate diplomacy in sensitive situations and to interact effectively with senior management
Ability to build relationships with the Business and other Risk and Control partners
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
Strong project management and process skills
Ability to prioritize and execute on multiple, simultaneous, complex priorities
Ability to analyze data, identify root causes, recommend change controls to senior management
Ability to document process' and lead process mapping sessions
Working knowledge of Force and the CORE process

Automated auditing and/or automated control testing experience is a plus
