Position Summary:

The Director, Technology Services (TS) Architecture is responsible for directing the program to develop, maintain, enhance, and evolve F5’s Enterprise Architecture (EA) across the company. This person must be passionate about relationship building, process improvement, technical and architectural excellence, and team development.

Primary Responsibilities and Activities:


  • Leading the evolution and improvement of the EA practice, including the coordination of an appropriately balanced pursuit of enterprise information systems, data, technical, security and solution architecture viewpoints

  • Aligning and driving the enterprise architect in support of the enterprise's business and TS strategies

  • Develop, Maintain, and evolve F5’s EA reference architecture and capability map working across organizations in F5.

  • Maintain, develop and evangelize the EA roadmap and align with F5 business priorities.

  • Maintain relationships with product groups and CoPs within F5 to ensure EA is represented.

  • Leading the identification and analysis of enterprise business drivers to derive enterprise business, information, technical and solution architecture requirements

  • Analyzing industry, technology, and market trends to determine their potential impacts on the enterprise

  • Analyzing the current business and TS environment to detect critical deficiencies and recommend solutions for improvement

  • Leading and facilitating the creation of governing principles to guide technical solution decision making for the enterprise

  • Ensuring that the optimal governance structure and compliance activities are associated with EA compliance

  • Leading the development of an implementation plan for the EA, based on business requirements and TS strategies; overseeing EA implementation, ongoing EA refinement activities, and the documentation of all EA design and analysis work

  • Consulting with program teams to align solutions to architecture across all viewpoints

  • Promoting the EA process, outcomes and results to the organization, including the enterprise's TS and business leaders; this includes assessing (through appropriate metrics) and communicating the achievement and impact of the EA, as well as leading the development and execution of an EA communication and education plan

  • Manage and develop the EA team to align with F5 business needs

Other Responsibilities:


  • Responsible for upholding F5’s Business Code of Ethics and for promptly reporting violations of the Code or other company policies.

  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Required Knowledge and Skill:


  • Exceptional interpersonal skills, including teamwork, facilitation and negotiation

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Proven experience working with modern development practices including Agile-mindset, Scrum, and Kanban

  • Strong leadership skills

  • Excellent analytical skills

  • Excellent planning and organizational skills

  • Knowledge of all components of a holistic EA

  • Knowledge of business re-engineering principles and processes

  • Firm understanding of API designs and REST principles

  • Proven track record of developing well thought-out systems / enterprise architectures

  • Passionate about engineering excellence

  • Demonstrated knowledge of building services in public clouds, such as AWS, Azure, GCP

  • Essential understanding of secure systems design

  • Strong knowledge and experience building microservice-based architectures.

  • Basic knowledge of financial analysis and models

  • Familiarity with basic graphical modeling approaches

Qualifications:


  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, computer engineering, electrical engineering, systems analysis or a related field of study, or equivalent experience.

  • 15+ years of experience in at least two IT disciplines (such as technical architecture, network management, enterprise applications, middleware, information analysis, database management or operations).

  • Past experience as a software developer a plus
