Work Days and Expected Hours:


Monday-Friday: 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM


(Additional hours as necessary to meet the objectives of the department).


Function: Review and analyze credit application for underwriting of all S&T Bank’s Consumer and direct and indirect loan products in a centralized environment. Adhere to all regulatory and compliance guidelines. Consistently deliver premier customer service.

Duties and Responsibilities: 



  • Judgmentally underwrites and makes timely lending decisions that:

    • Will contribute to the development and growth of a high quality/volume portfolio

    • Assures compliance with all applicable consumer laws and regulations

    • Demonstrates consistency and fairness to all applicants

    • Complies with S&T Bank’s lending policies and procedures

    • Are exercised within delegated transactional lending authority for approving credit extensions


  • Consistently applies and documents designated override authority associated with:

    • Established underwriting system Policy rules and severity levels

    • Established underwriting Review rules and severity levels

    • Exceptions to loan policy and guidelines


  • Provides branch support to include timely responses that are clear, understandable, and can be communicated to customers to; assists with verification of income preparation and clarification of loan conditions.

  • Works closely with CLD Loan Documentation staff to assist in resolution of legal and lien issues that may arise prior to loan funding to include written correspondence to bank counsel for opinion.

  • Prepares and provides management with support reports and other information.

  • Maintains a working knowledge of current, as well as future changes (when applicable) to:

    • Consumer lending laws and regulations

    • Bank lending policies and procedures

    • Consumer loan products


  • Develops a high level of proficiency in using the consumer lending platform and central underwriting systems.

  • Demonstrates a high level of professionalism when performing duties.

  • Maintains a good working relationship with all Bank employees and indirect dealers. Demonstrates strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work independently, as well as, motivated to work as a team player to contribute to the success of the department and organization.

  • Assumes additional duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Physical Demands

Operates a keypad device: 90% of the day; operates electronic equipment: 5% of the day; operates office equipment: 5% of the day. The primary parts of the body involved in performing these tasks are the fingers, thumbs, hands, and wrists. Sitting is required 7 times per day. Walking is required one time per day at moderate speed. Use of manual dexterity skills for typing and data entry up to 40% of the business day. Specific vision requirements include close vision of 18” – 20” for computer work. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform essential functions.
