Summary:
We are seeking an experienced R&E Sr. Scientist – Formulator. In this position, the candidate’s  primarily responsibility will be the development and maintenance of new and existing formulations for both Family Care and Baby Care sectors in the EMEA region, which has sales in excess of $1BN. The incumbent will:


  • Collaborate with Research Technical Leaders, and as part of multifunctional team both Business Unit and External partners, to translate technical, business and consumer knowledge into technology opportunities.

  • Have development responsibility for all aspects of formulation across a range of technologies (surfactant solutions, emulsions, wax blends, etc.).

  • Report to EMEA Regional R&E Manager (though the position will be located at our Kimberly-Clark Research & Engineering offices in Neenah, Wisconsin).

  • Manage accountabilities for both Wet Wipes and Dry tissue, which utilize dissimilar technologies, networks and geographies/logistics.

Position Purpose: Lead formulation development across both EMEA Family and Baby Care project teams.

Responsibilities:
• Work with research technical leaders, business unit partners and through external collaboration to translate technical, business and consumer knowledge into technology development opportunities in a different geography to where the role is based.
• Design, lead, and complete projects as part of multifunctional team to deliver upon these technology opportunities as related to the formulated Baby Care and Family Care personal care products category. This role will be split approximately 50:50 between Family Care and Baby Care sectors.
• Manage a portfolio of projects requiring extensive collaboration with internal and external innovation partners on a global level.

• Provide Chemistry support for EMEA Procurement and Manufacturing facilities.  

• Connect with and provides guidance to Global formulation developments for Baby and Personal Care Wipes, and Dry Bath Tissue within K-C.

• Protect technologies and products through appropriate use of patents, trade secrets, and other intellectual property.

• Support consumer studies, testing and claims substantiation for new opportunities.

• Provide recommendations for improvement/change to formulations, and to help control costs in order to fund growth initiatives.  

Required Qualifications:
• Technical knowledge and experience in formulation science and product development.
• Bachelor’s or advanced degree in Chemistry and/or Engineering.

• 3+ years of experience in formulation roles.  Baby wipe experience preferred and a level of understanding of cosmetics with relation to Family Care and the interactions of lotions with tissue paper.
• Ability to travel 25%.

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
 

Other Qualifications:
 • Ability to work well with cross-functional teams of Scientists, Engineers, Marketers and Safety/Regulatory experts. 

• Be comfortable with utilizing remote working for majority of teams.

• Knowledge of EU Cosmetic Regulation would be advantageous.
