Job Description:

The Loadmaster is responsible for all aspects of loading and unloading of freight on company aircraft, monitors and directs the building and loading of cargo for scheduled service flights, and assists with warehouse duties, as assigned. Lynden Air Cargo is a US part 121 all-cargo airline based in Anchorage, Alaska. Lynden Air Cargo conducts operations within Alaska as well as other locations around the world, utilizing its fleet of L382 Hercules aircraft. Responsibilities

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Performs all assigned work in accordance with established policies and procedures as governed by Lynden Air Cargo’s Employee Handbook, LAC Loadmaster Manual and applicable CFR’s.

 

Responsible for preparation of aircraft for loading and unloading of freight. 

 

Determines proper weight and balance of the aircraft and loads the aircraft within limits for safe flight.

 

Coordinates the loading and unloading activities with ground personnel.

 

Directs all loading and off loading of routine loads for scheduled service.

 

Must have the ability to work in a constant state of alertness and in a safe manner.



Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

 

LANGUAGE SKILLS:

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.  Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.  Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.

 

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.  Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to interpret bar graphs.

 

REASONING ABILITY:

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.  Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.

 

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:

Current US Driver License

Current US Passport

 

OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

Upon completion of training, must be able to demonstrate ability, knowledge, and skill to qualify for Loadmaster I Certificate of Qualification for Loadmaster.

 

OTHER QUALIFICATIONS:

Must be available to work days, evenings, weekends, nights or holidays and to be away from home for extended periods of time (up to a total of 6 out of 12 months a year).

Must be available to travel to domestic and international locations without restrictions, including entrance onto foreign military bases. 

Must pass a DOT physical and obtain a medical card to operate a commercial vehicle in excess of 10,000 pounds.

 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to stand; walk and sit. The employee must regularly lift and /or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds.

 

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts; outside weather conditions and vibration. The employee is occasionally exposed to high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles and toxic or caustic chemicals. The noise level in the work environment ranges from moderately loud to very loud.
