In this position the individual works in conjunction with other members of the EHS Department to coordinate safety-related activities detecting and monitoring plant conditions that may adversely affect the safety and health of employees and/or violate applicable laws; recommends corrective measures; completes plant audits and program assessments and prepares written reports on findings; participates in incident investigations to determine the "root cause" and ensure the implementation of appropriate changes to prevent future occurrences and conducts employee training programs. This individual will also assess and monitor site compliance with all applicable local, State and Federal environmental regulations. Work with plant personnel to ensure compliance. Monitors waste stream and waste products to ascertain ways to minimize or eliminate waste. Must interface with all levels of the organization and external agencies, vendors and contacts. BASIC QUALIFICATIONS


  • BS in Occupational Safety and Health, Safety Engineering, or EHS.
  • Previous internship, co-op experience, or previous work experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Employees must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Verification of employment eligibility will be required at the time of hire. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.
  • This position is subject to the Internal Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) which requires U.S. person status.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS


  • Professional certification preferred (ASP or CSP).
  • Certificates in CHMM, PE a plus.
  • Must have a good working knowledge of applicable laws and regulations regarding workplace safety and health.
  • Strong communication skills (written and oral).
  • Good PC skills with a good working knowledge of Word, PowerPoint, Excel and etc.
  • Strong program management skills.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions in written, oral, diagram or schedule form.
