If you are an Engineering professional looking for an opportunity to grow, Emerson has an exciting opportunity for you!  Based in our St. Louis, Missouri location, you will be a part of a global engineering team tasked with designing HVAC Electronic products including thermostats, heating and cooling controls, wireless sensors and IOT solutions. The connected home is rapidly changing the landscape of many consumer products and this is particularly true for the HVAC industry. You will build solutions for the market leveraging many of today's evolving technologies, including RF transmission, analog/digital sensors, and embedded microcontroller design. 

 

AS SR. ELECTRICAL ENGINEER, YOU WILL: 


  • Ensure projects are completed on time and within cost using assigned resources.

  • Ensure new technology intellectrual property is secured by filing patent disclosures.

  • Evaluate ideas and designs to identify the best solution.

  • Oversee mulitple objectives concurrently.

  • Take initiative to develop tools to evaluate design ideas

REQUIRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE & SKILLS:

 


  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or Electrical & Computer Engineering or Electrical Engineering Technology, or equivalent combination of education and experience

  • 6-8 years in embedded design

  • Ability to communicate technical information clearly to internal and external customers by phone, email, and in-person, as appropriate

  • Ability deliver projects on-time and within budget that meets or exceeds our customer's expecation

  • Ability to understand analog and digital circuits that are typically used in embedded controls in the HVAC industry.

  • Ability to make data driven decision

  • Strong problem-solving skills

  • Legal authorization to work in the United States - Sponsorship for this role will not be provided. 


 

 PREFERRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE & SKILLS:  

 


  • Experience with analog and digital circuits used in HVAC, Automotive, White Goods, Telecom, or wearables industries. 

  • Experience in using schematic and PCB development tools (Cadence/Allegro)

  • Experience programming in C or C++

  • Experience in wired or wireless communicating technologies (CAN, MODBUS, Bluetooth, WI-FI)

  • Experience with antenna design and simulation

  • Experience in EMC design and testing

  • Experience working with Agency approvals of electronic product

  • Ability to learn the application of electronics in HVAC for the US market (thermostats, integrated furnace controls, air handler controls, and outdoor controls)

  • Ability to design or direct others to design controls that will meet reliability, quality, cost, delivery, and safety goals with a low number of iterations and satisfy customers.

  • Understanding of electrical noise problems and solutions

  • Work collaboratively with Sales, Marketing, Product Planning, Quality, and Manufacturing to deliver new products

  • Knowledge of design for manufacturability
