Job Description

The Director, Business Development will provide leadership and support in the planning and implementation of market and customer penetration strategies in order to cultivate and capture new business opportunities that enable Flex to exceed revenue, growth and profit expectations.  He or she will be responsible for strategically developing and managing all account activities for multiple customers by engaging with our internal and external clients to expand current and develop new opportunities within the account base in order to deliver customer value, drive profitability, and grow revenue.  The aim is to build a best in class solutions team that provides innovative compelling customer solutions which differentiate Flex from the competition.

This may be a telecommuter role.

Here is a glimpse of what you’ll do…


  • Develop new strategic alliances with key customers.

  • Utilizes customer, competitive and market intelligence to develop sales and account penetration strategy to penetrate new target customer

  • Understands the breadth and depth of Flex capabilities to develop proactive solutions or response to proposal which differentiates Flex and enables the customer to address key issues and/or drive top line growth

  • New logo acquisition and demand generation

  • Analyze and understand customers’ business strategy, future product plans, and expansion activities and align Flex resources where mutually beneficial.

  • Create and drive personal pipeline in line with overall GSS strategy

  • New client acquisition and driving growth with new name logos

  • Play a lead role in devising strategies to promote Flex

  • Shaping propositions to meet client requirements working alongside Regional VP’s, Solution Architects and Business Development team.    

  • Understands the customer’s organization, products, market position, goals and objectives, sourcing strategy, suppliers, manufacturing locations, competition and future directions

  • Define business priorities through a broad and far vision of market and technology needs, to include initiating and managing business development activities that will strengthen, expand and drive market penetration.

  • Work closely with the Business Development Team and the Finance Department to control budgets within the department.

  • Assist current accounts in the development and execution of product roadmaps and act as a focal point in delivering Flex’s solutions which include concept development, industrial design, manufacturing, supply chain/logistics, services support and reverse logistics.

  • Support senior management with regard to managing and evaluating key personnel and in terms of talent acquisition to provide further potential to business resources.

  • Implement appropriate HR strategies and actions to recruit and retain a qualified and motivated workforce.

Here is some of what you’ll need (required)…


  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business or related field experience or equivalent

  • 7 years of progressively advancing services/third party logistics experience in business development.

  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret the most complex documents.

  • Ability to respond effectively to the most sensitive inquiries or complaints.

  • Ability to write speeches and articles using original or innovative techniques or style. Ability to make effective and persuasive speeches and presentations
