High Level Summary
The Vice President of strategy will craft our strategy, transformation and growth. You will identify, analyze and advise on key market trends and work to understand shifts in competitive dynamics, develop approaches, drive decisions and implement our strategic choices for Equinix.
Driving strategy for success
Lead strategy definition across Equinix and formulate our strategy in partnership with senior Leaders
Provide meaningful recommendations to capitalize on emerging trends and minimize risk
Lead annual strategy planning process with senior leadership team and the board
Build and lead a team that can drive strategic decision-making for the company. Frame strategic choices facing the company, drive data-driven analysis of alternatives, and lead business leaders in decision-making and implementation
Collaborate with leaders across all functions, including Product Strategy, CTO and CCRO, in developing a single companywide plan and position for cross-functional strategy questions
Strategic support for our M&A, venture investing, commercial partnerships and other transactions
Responsibilities
Lead strategy planning
Provide strategic direction and thought leadership, with primary responsibility for developing and executing innovative, financially sound, and data-driven corporate strategies to attain business objectives and improve shareholder value
Does identifying markets and developing business plans to support both strategic and tactical elements of growth and expansion, in collaboration with the executive teams excite you
Facilitate the prioritization process for strategic initiatives to drive focus across the organization
We are continuously improving Equinix’s global strategy planning process, including defining inputs, deliverables and KPIs for prioritizing and funding initiatives
You will contribute to the development and execution of long-term business planning
Communicate strategy for efficient alignment
Engage internal and external constituencies (customers, analysts, investors, media) in dialog on Equinix’s strategy and plans
Develop and provide clear content for communicating and implementing Equinix strategy including working with data/analytics teams to develop and implement strategy-driven metrics
Capabilities and Requirements
Knowledge and Experience
We are looking for someone with 10+ years in strategy at a technology / consulting firm
Deep understanding of Cloud technologies, infrastructure and platform domains, as well as enterprise technology more broadly
Ideally we would love someone with a strong understanding of Equinix’s customers, offerings, organization, competitive landscape and market opportunities

Experience with multiple cloud providers (multiple cloud platforms: IBM Cloud, Pivotal, AWS, Azure, Google Cloud, VMWare, etc.)
Strategic problem solver with the ability to anticipate key market and technology trends that will build opportunities for future growth and value creation
Highly entrepreneurial with the sophistication to work cross-functionally in a larger corporate environment
Effective communicator with sufficient eye for business and operational experience to advise and influence senior executives across the company
Mentally agile to move seamlessly between ground-breaking, long-range planning, and support for current quarter initiatives at headquarters or within the regional organizations
Leadership capabilities to recruit potential leaders for the team and to develop individual team member skills for strategy work as well as broader leadership
Effective global leader who can build global relationships and balance tradeoffs between global expectations and local conditions.
