Job Description:


The Director of Global Risk, Health, Safety, and Security will be the primary point person for international risk assessment, health, safety, and security training, logistics, compliance, and crisis management for the university on programs, projects and partnerships abroad. As such, this position will review all new proposals and audit existing programs on a regular basis to ensure that they meet the standards for international programming and operations at Pitt. S/he will develop criteria and guide the Global Risk, Health, Safety, and Security Committee in its creation and review of policies and procedures.

S/he will oversee the collection, assessment, reporting of data on incidents, outcomes, and trends in the field to appropriate entities both internally and externally. S/he will work with Benefits and Human Resources in relation to international travel and liability insurance, and Trade Compliance with respect to US export and embargo/sanction regulations. S/he will work alongside of Environmental Health & Safety, General Counsel, Public Safety, Risk Management and UCIS to ensure that government-mandated standards in regard to FERPA, HIPAA, Clery, Title IX, and OSHA are maintained in university- owned or controlled facilities abroad. S/he will create, conduct, and evaluate international risk-related training workshops for the University community.

S/he will participate in national working groups and organizations to monitor trends at peer and aspirational peer institutions to ensure that Pitt is aligned with accepted standards. Additionally, s/he shall be expected to sit on campus committees, particularly within UCIS, participate and present at local, regional, and national conferences. Some travel, both international as well as domestic, may be required.
Master's degree required in higher education administration, international legal studies, personnel administration, international affairs, public policy, or related field. Experience working with international/cross-cultural communities is essential. A minimum of five year's experience in international education is required.
