Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

The District Business Manager plays a critical role in pulling through national sales strategy, and developing local strategies and tactics to achieve district sales goals.


  • Recruit, hire, train, coach and develop sales representatives to achieve district and territory sales goals.

  • Work in the field with district sales staff to develop skills, product knowledge and territory plans in order to achieve sales objectives. Identify top performers for continued development and low performers for performance improvement actions - up to and including termination.

  • Meet and nurture relationships with key region diabetes centers, healthcare professionals, key opinion leaders and diabetes organizations.

  • Manage district expenses and administrative requirements as specified by Dexcom Leadership.

  • Provide timely information and data regarding sales performance to management; construct region forecasts as requested.

  • Work cross functionally with partners in Marketing, Market Access and others as needed to develop district strategies that drive improved sales performance.

  • Responsible and accountable for achieving sales objectives.

  • Responsible for ensuring district is committed to and conforms to the company quality systems procedures as documented.

  • Local and overnight travel (up to 60%).

Required Qualifications:


  • Work requires significant local and potential overnight travel to current and potential clients.

  • Requires the possession of a valid state driver's license, automobile insurance, and satisfactory Driving Record as determined by company policy.

  • Requires willingness to work a flexible schedule which may include weekends and/or evening work.

Preferred Qualifications:


  • Previous medical and/or pharma sales leadership experience with a track record of high sales success.

  • Previous sales leadership experience that is non-medical and/or pharma may be considered.

  • Diabetes disease state knowledge and experience is a plus

  • Knowledge and awareness spans all aspects of the specific functional area

  • Having wide-ranging experience, uses professional concepts and knowledge of company objectives to resolve complex issues in creative and effective ways.

  • Develops a proficiency of the company's business / market in order to inform decisions

Scope:


  • Receives assignments in the form of objectives and determines how to use resources to meet schedules and goals.

  • Provides guidance to team members / supporting employees using established company policies.

  • Frequently interacts with subordinate supervisors, customers, and/or functional peer group managers, normally involving matters between functional areas, other company divisions or units, or customers and the company.

Judgement:


  • Works on issues of diverse scope where analysis of situation or data requires evaluation of a variety of factors.

  • Follows processes and policies in selecting methods and techniques for obtaining solutions.

  • Erroneous decisions or failure to achieve results will add to costs and may impact the short-term goals of the organization.

Experience and Education Requirements:


  • Typically Requires a Bachelor's degree with 8-12 years of industry experience

  • 2-5 years of previous management or leadership experience

  • up to 60%

Supervisory Responsibilities:

Directly supervises employees. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Is responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of this area. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Language Skills: Must be able to communicate effectively in English. Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
