Are you a benefits expert looking to expand your horizons? Akima, LLC is actively seeking to hire a talented Senior Manager specializing in 401K Retirement Plans. As a Senior 401K Manager for Akima’s dynamic Human Resources department, you’ll put your skills to work managing our day-to-day retirement plan processes while assisting the Benefits Team with other strategic programs designed to strengthen and enhance this critical function.

Position Summary:

The Senior 401K Manager will have the opportunity to contribute to a wide variety of activities involving retirement, health care savings and flexible spending account plans. Using analytical, organization and communication skills, this position is responsible for providing knowledge and support on the administration, compliance, reporting, employee communication and education for these programs. The position will conduct research and data analysis regarding various aspects of the plans, identify and develop process improvement. The Senior Manager will have the opportunity to work with the Company’s various unions by managing and administering the health and welfare and pension contributions. The successful candidate should have the ability to multi-task assignments, projects and daily responsibilities with accuracy and high level of comfort working with all levels of employees. He/she should possess strong analytical and both written & verbal communication skills.

Administration:

• Responsible for the day-to-day administration and operation of the retirement plans, including contribution/funding reconciliation, distributions, benefit file coordination and maintenance; of the 401(k) Plan. 

• Processing and transmission of files and payments for union pension plans and health and welfare fringe contributions. 

• Partner with Finance and Payroll Teams to submit and reconcile Plan contributions. 

• Update HR system with contribution and loan changes from retirement service provider. 

• Review and confirm Annual Required Minimum Distributions (Age 70 ½ distributions). 

Compliance:

• Monitor and ensure the legal compliance of the plans, by working with provider, internal legal Counsel and external investment consultant

• Manage the 401(k) annual audit, 5500 process and compliance testing (Non-Discrimination)

• Review and report on legislative changes affecting retirement programs

• Ensure required distribution of Summary Annual Report (SAR), Annual Fee Disclosure Mailing and Summary Plan Descriptions (SPD)

Communications:

• Partner with vendors on the preparation and delivery of retirement plan communication necessary for participant education and key issues. 

• Assist with preparation of Retirement Committee materials and coordinate with external Investment Consultant for Committee meetings.

• Respond to employee questions and inquiries.

Minimum Qualifications: 


  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience

  • Must have experience working in a government contracting environment

  • Must have experience with the day-to-day administration and operation of the retirement plans, including contribution/funding reconciliation, distributions, benefit file coordination and maintenance; of the 401(k) Plan. 

  • Minimum 3+ years of Defined Contribution Plan Administration experience

  • Exceptional customer service and communication skills, organized, ethical and have a keen awareness about the importance confidentiality. Your qualifications

  • Knowledge of DOL, IRS and federal regulations related to Retirement Plan Administration

  • Experience with Service Contract Act (SCA), Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) and Davis Bacon Act (DBA) • Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously

  •  Ability to work independently with minimal supervision

  • Strong analytical and interpersonal skills

  • Accuracy and attention to detail

  • Maintain confidentiality and exercise extreme discretion

  • Excellent problem solving / judgment skills

Your preferred qualifications:


  • Knowledge of Defined Benefit Plans

  • CEBS Certification or classes in retirement preferred

  • Knowledge of benefit laws and regulations, including ERISA

  • Proficiency in MS Office, with strength in Excel spreadsheets utilizing Pivot Tables and V-Lookup functions

  • Experience with HRIS and Benefits systems such as CostPoint, and Cognos
