Job Description:

Responsibilities
• Submit annual budget for all aspects of logistics and adjust expenses to stay within the approved budget.
• Manage departmental expenditures within agreed budgets.
• Establish and implement logistics procedures and follow company guidelines.
• Attend regular safety meetings to ensure a safe workplace and review safety incidents and provide training based on injury history and unsafe situations.
• Research carriers and negotiate freight rates as needed.
• Provide leadership to the logistics team through regular monitoring performance, providing feedback and coaching regularly, and taking corrective action as necessary.
• Manage and plan warehouse for capacity and efficiency, in accordance with facility needs.
• Attend the daily plant performance meeting and provide statistical information and feedback on back order situations to include previous days pounds shipped.
• Cooperate with management, team members, and peers in other departments to help achieve company goals and objectives and promote teamwork.
• Delegate/prioritize all activities and coordinate work assignments based on daily schedules and responsibilities.
• Follow up with daily logistics tasks to ensure top quality work by continuously monitoring progress.
• Negotiate with vendors for goods and services for the best possible price and service.
• Establish, define and develop standards for department processes being mindful of continuous improvement.
• Maintain constant contact with internal and external customers.
• Develop new supply sources where vendors are inadequate.
• Implement pro-active measures by utilizing problem solving skills.
• Examine bids and makes awards.

Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in business or related field required and five or more years’ experience in the logistics field.
• Excellent knowledge of TL and LTL carriers, and shipping regulations.
• Ability to lead team with a commitment to demonstrating, and enforcing company Safety policies, and procedures.
• Strong professional communication abilities, including verbal, written, and presentation, with the ability to effectively communicate to all levels within the organization.
• Strong organization skills with the ability to manage multiple projects, effectively delegating resources, and performing first hand, in order to meet agreed upon timelines, within budget.
• Solid proficiency with a variety of software systems, including Microsoft Office Suite, SAP, and Payroll/Time & Attendance tools.
