Description: The Risk Management Analyst will support the implementation of the Company’s Enterprise Risk Management Program, including the establishment of risk frameworks, risk assessments, risk reporting and monitoring of mitigation and response strategies. Reporting to the Assistant Director of Risk & Portfolio Management, the Risk Analyst will support the development of risk control programs, perform risk assessments, monitor control and remediation activities, and report on risk performance throughout the Company.

Key Responsibilities:


  • Analyze data to better understand potential risks, concerns and outcomes of decisions.

  • Aggregate data from multiple sources to provide a comprehensive assessment.

  • Apply the Enterprise Risk Management framework to identify, assess, mitigate, monitor, and report on risks faced by the company, consistent with industry best practices.

  • Partner with key stakeholders to perform risk assessments and risk monitoring to evaluate the effectiveness of controls.

  • Create reports, summaries, presentations and process documents to display results.

  • Collaborate with other team members to effectively analyze and present data.

  • Assist with insurance policy renewals throughout the year.

  • Develop systems and processes for gathering and storing data for future analytic projects.

  • Identify economic and financial trends that may present a risk to the company.

  • Monitor internal and external data points that may affect the risk level of a decision.

  • Drive sustainable resolution of day to day risk issues and ensures prompt remedial actions are implemented.

  • Ensure all relevant risk matters are appropriately escalated to the Enterprise Risk Management Committee, prepare materials to appropriately represent issues.

  • Contribute to the implementation of new risk policies, tools, practices, and solutions to ensure holistic understanding and management of risks according to industry best practice.

  • Promote strong, positive risk culture throughout the company through training, communication, and promotion of best practices in risk management.

  • Build relationships and collaborate effectively with other departments to establish risk processes.

Skills:


  • Risk and controls – Experienced and competent in discussing risks, categories of risks, and articulating the types of mitigations/controls and their respective impacts on reducing risks.

  • Highly structured – Experienced and pre-disposed towards structures and frameworks which will help visualize the end-goals of the strategic developments within Risk.

  • Strong mathematical, analytical and data driven credentials – Essential the candidate can demonstrate a good mathematical mind to critically assess risks and to power the development of Key Risk Indicators (KRIs) across the business. Quantitative and analytical skills with a demonstrated ability to understand new analytical concepts.

  • Communication skills – Strong written communication skills and experience in writing risk assessments and other Risk Management documentation. Presentation skills, including public speaking and presentation creation using PowerPoint or a similar program.

Knowledge:


  • Competency with Microsoft Office, focusing on Excel.

  • Knowledge of ISO and COSO frameworks is desirable.

  • Working knowledge of Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) and Governance, Risk, Compliance (GRC) systems preferred.

  • Knowledge of business insurance is a plus.

Education:


  • Bachelor's Degree in Statistics, Economics, Finance or related field required.

Experience:


  • 3+ years as a risk management analyst for a finance/leasing company or bank.

  • Directly related commercial risk management, compliance, audit experience preferred.
