Job Description:

Arcadis is seeking a Project Manager to join our Chicago, Illinois team.

In this role you will plan, direct, and coordinate activities of a variety of projects executing the services requested by a client. These services can include all phases, or portions, of a project including planning, pre-construction, design management, procurement, construction, and post construction.

Position responsibilities include, but not limited to the following:

Project level responsibilities:


  • Ensure that the entire project team understands the Client's vision and goals for the project.

  • Manage all project participants to ensure that the project is being executed in accordance with Client's established project goals.

  • Develop/Monitor budgets, including both direct and indirect cost.

  • Develop and manage cost control processes including analysis of actual cost, commitments, contingencies, and forecasts.

  • Develop/Monitor project schedules, including master schedules, design schedules and construction schedules. Propose corrective actions for any recognized variances.

  • Assure that corrective actions are evaluated and taken when negative cost or schedule trends begin developing.

  • Support the procurement process for designers, other consultants, contractors, and other vendors required.

  • Assist Client in contract negotiations for project team members.

  • Manage document controls process.

  • Participate in value engineering efforts.

  • Manage change order process, evaluating technical issues, contractual justification, and actual cost/schedule impacts.

  • Complete project progress reports on regular basis as required by Client/Project.

  • Manage project meetings. Prepare & issue minutes of all meetings.

  • Monitor safety and ensure that the requirements for both ARCADIS and Client are met. Monitor the quality of the work in coordination with the design team.

  • Review & approve monthly payment requests from contractors, consultants and vendors.

  • Assist in managing FFE procurement, expediting and installation if required by Client.

  • Lead in the project closeout, commissioning, and ORAT processes.


General responsibilities:

  • Participate in growing buildings practice in Chicago

  • Assist in new project pursuits

  • Mentoring/training of Assistant Project Managers

  • Participate in career growth via training program


Skills and Abilities:

  • Solid verbal and written communications skills.

  • Experience in multiple project delivery methods including Integrated Project Delivery, Design Build, CM at Risk, Design-Bid Build, and Job Order Contracting.

  • Experience with construction of convention centers, exhibit halls, sports venues, and similar facility types.

  • Experience with web-based project management systems

  • A Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Architecture, Civil Engineering or a related field.

  • A minimum of 5 years of construction management or project management experience


Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in discipline risk management practices

  • Experience in cost estimating for conceptual and detailed estimates.
