This position will be located in Fontana, CA where 2 of our facilities are located but could travel to several others within the United States.
SUMMARY
Machining Applications Engineer is responsible for developing, overseeing, and improving machine shop manufacturing processes through observation, investigation, and evaluation of products and manufacturing methods while supporting Howmet to achieve established operational and financial targets.

  • Provides engineering support to machine shop, including day-to-day problem solving of process deficiencies and product defects as well as updating process documentation. Investigates, collaborates, and diagnoses to resolve production problems.
  • Design, develops, and implements operation sheets, machine set up, and work instructions.
  • Develop safe and robust process for new product.
  • Develop, modify, improve, and troubleshoot the processes associated with the Machine Shop production.
  • Drive continuous process improvement initiatives focusing on safety, quality, and cost by utilizing six sigma.
  • Work closely with machine operators to find safer and more efficient ways to machine product.
  • Support RC&CA by performing deep analysis (5 Why's) and implementing corrective actions.
  • Act as a liaison between all manufacturing departments.
  • Perform other work-related duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's degree in manufacturing engineering from an accredited institution.
  • 3-5 years manufacturing experience: internship or experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Competence in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Knowledge of GD&T, Mastercam Lathe Programing (version 18), good analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Able to interpret instructions both written and oral.
  • Employees must be legally authorized to work in the United States .
