POSITION SUMMARY:
If you are a mechanical or product engineering professional looking for an opportunity to grow, Emerson has an exciting opportunity for you! Based in our Novi, Michigan location, you will be responsible for the design of pneumatic platform Actuators, Valves and FRL products using computer-aided design software.
AS A SR. PRODUCT DEVELOPMENT ENGINEER FOR THE MACHINE AUTOMATION TEAM, YOU WILL:
Develop innovative designs using Creo 3D software
Design for manufacturability (i.e. material, processes, costs)
Design products for medium to high volume production
Conduct and prepare design reviews and DFMEA analysis
Support and interface with both internal and external customers
Drive design engineering deliverables using gated process from concept through production
Utilize FEA tools to validate and optimize design
Travel less than 5% domestically and internationally

REQUIRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE & SKILLS:
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent with minimum 7 years’ experience in a product engineering design role
Minimum of 5 years modeling and detailing of parts and assemblies in 3D CAD
Experience in designing with one or more of the following processes: plastic injection molding, castings, stampings, elastomers, and machining
Excellent computer skills to include MS Office 365
Excellent oral and written communication skills
PREFERRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE & SKILLS:
Knowledge of Design Failure Modes Effects Analysis (DFMEA)
Experience with Creo/Windchill
Ability to apply tolerance stack up analysis and GD&T
Ability to apply material properties of plastics, elastomers and metals under stress and fatigue.
Design experience of pneumatic or hydraulic products
