TransCore (TCI), a subsidiary of Roper Technologies, Inc. (NYSE: ROP) is seeking an ITS Technician II to join our team in Pensacola, FL. 


Summary: Perform maintenance services on Intelligent Transportation Systems and Traffic Signal Systems throughout various FDOT, County, and City Contracts and customer equipment. This job may include any aspect of field support and installation, and is not limited to electrical, data, and fiber optic cable installation; conduit and pull box installation; pole and foundation installation, and documentation. Determines most effective means to perform maintenance and install equipment to maximize efficiency. This is a hands-on role and the qualified candidate must determine the most effective means to perform preventive maintenance to maximize efficiency. Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.



  • Installs equipment including but not limited to cameras, detectors, controller cabinets.

  • Installs electrical conductor, data conductor, fiber optic cable, pull boxes, conduit, poles and foundations.

  • Connects electrical conductors to power services to energize equipment.

  • Tests devices to ensure they work correctly.

  • Prepares and completes reports, logs and performs shift-to-shift communications in accordance with established policies, procedures and local practices.

  • Responds to corrective maintenance requests or alarms within an acceptable time frame.

  • Diagnoses and repairs hardware, software, and system issues

  • Reports the technical status of the system with accuracy and completeness.

  • Restores equipment to operational status as quickly as possible.

  • Module or PC Board swap out

  • Isolation of faults in units or components

  • Field test of units or components; tests devices to ensure they work correctly.

  • Maintenance of spare equipment and parts following established procedures.

 Required Skills & Experience: 



  • Typically requires a minimum of 2 - 4 years of related experience.

  • Must obtain a CDL Class B within six months of starting employment.

  • Through knowledge of current desktop technologies and communications software, including Windows, serial communications, and TCP/IP concept.

  • Knowledge with requesting and performing utility Locates.

  • AC / DC Electricity experience.

  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.

  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.

  • Work on assignments that are semi-routine in nature but recognizes the need for occasional deviation from accepted practice. 

Desired Skills & Experience:



  • Dynamic Message Sign (DMS) troubleshooting,

  • Experience in troubleshooting / repairing CCTV's, and Microwave Vehicle Detection System (MVDS)

  • Component level board repair experience  

Education:



  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED).

  • One-year Certificate from college or technical school preferred.

Certifications (or ability to obtain within six months of start):



  • FDOT approved Maintenance of Traffic (MOT) certification

  • IMSA Traffic Signal I Certification
