Manager, Quality Program - Co-ManufacturingPosition Summary
Responsible for the development, implementation, maintenance and management of all Quality Assurance programs in Ferrara contract manufacturing locations.
Provide technical expertise and support to ensure compliance to Ferrara Quality Management System, Food Safety Management System, FSMA and other regulatory requirements, and product quality requirements.
Utilize tools such as auditing, statistical and process evaluation, trend analysis, and coaching to achieve continuous improvement and business objectives.
Network cross-functionally within and outside Ferrara with experts in different food processing technologies and food safety systems.
Lead the development and the implementation of Ferrara Quality Management System, Food Safety Management System and procedural requirements at contract manufacturing locations and as needed for Ferrara business units and suppliers.
Coordinate resolution of Quality Management issues. This includes reporting on KPIs, corrective action plans, technical summaries, Management Review of Quality, held inventory disposition, etc.
Ensure that established systems / procedures / protocols are adequate to provide for consistent product quality, food safety, and regulatory compliance. For new technologies, ensure food safety processes are validated.
Evaluation and resolution of customer / consumer product quality issues.
Routinely work with cross function groups such as Operations Managers, R&D, Food Safety, and Legal to establish and achieve business objectives. (Examples: Technical problem solving, new product launches, new suppliers). Maintain network of food safety experts to draw from when working with unfamiliar/new food processing technologies.
Drive the development and implementation of contract manufacturing product manual, finished product specifications and training materials / programs.
Conduct audits on existing and potential contract manufacturers, issue timely reports and drive corrective action follow-up and closure
Provide technical support in contract manufacturer sourced product recall / withdrawals.
Approximately 75% Travel required

Minimum BS / BA degree in Food Science / Food Technology or related fields.
Registered auditor in GFSI benchmarked schemes is preferred.
HACCP certification is required- must be attained within six months of hire date
Candidate Minimum Qualifications:
Minimum of 7 years in food manufacturing operations. Within this, there must be 3 - 5 years of factory QA experience, preferably at Quality Assurance Manager level.
Must have strong knowledge and understanding of food safety / HACCP, GMPs, Allergen Controls, Sanitary design/controls, pest control, basic food regulations, specifications, statistical analysis and basic food technology.
Must be capable of working with minimal direct supervision and have strong demonstrated leadership, interpersonal, and self-initiative skills.
Strong demonstrated verbal / written communication, analytical and problem solving skills. Must be detailed and results oriented.
Experience with SAP preferred.
FSMA training, FSSC22000/BRC/SQF Lead Auditor training or similar Food Safety and Quality Systems training by NFPA, Silliker, etc. Implementation experience in one or more systems is preferred.
Project management skills preferred.
PC proficiency in Windows-based applications: Word, Excel, Access
