Primary Purpose:

The purpose of this position is responsible for supporting the quality assurance and quality control functions with the company, and the key management components of the Quality System. The role provides functional leadership to develop, implement, maintain and improve Quality processes across the manufacturing site. Ensures Company is in compliance with all applicable Local, State and Federal Food Laws through alignment with all auditing requirements. Champions the Ferrara Food Safety and Quality Process Improvement across all manufacturing, co-manufacturing and warehousing locations.

Major Responsibilities:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
  • Manages and develops direct staff.
  • Responsible for implementing the Site Product Evaluation System (PES)
  • Partners with Quality and Food Safety Manager, Operations and other key stakeholders to implement changes, new process or new products in a safe manner and implement product quality conformance system
  • Provide technical expertise and conduct quality incident investigation and risk analysis as well as provide recommendations for appropriate resolution
  • Manage the internal audit program for the site through training associates, creating audit schedule and ensuring a robust and corrective and preventive action (CAPA) process
  • Lead Site Error meeting and identify areas of improvement for Quality Plan through analysis of data and evaluation of trends using statistical analysis
  • Actively participate on root cause analysis, corrective actions and preventive measures
  • Support Food Safety Manager with preparation, scheduling, training for the annual SQF Certification
  • Responsible for supervising quality technicians and monitoring of site quality verification activities
  • Collaborate with Site Quality team and Operations partners to conduct the Quality management review at planned intervals to ensure suitability, adequacy and effectiveness of the FSQA management programs
  • Lead the Quality onboarding process for all Quality and Operations roles; help develop training material and deliver training
  • Ensure all employees have met Quality learning requirements after completing training.
  • Responsible for Quality training management in Alchemy.
  • Responsible for site Quality Scorecard - analyze Quality data and trends and provide recommendations to management where unacceptable Quality results have been identified
  • Develop, review and update standard operating procedures
  • Ensures adherence to all company policies and procedures.
  • Understands and demonstrates the Company's core values.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree in food science, microbiology, or other relevant degree and substantial experience in quality and food safety
  • Masters or certification preferred
  • Minimum 3 years' experience in a supervisory role
  • Proficiency with the Microsoft Office suite
  • SQF Practitioner experience preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of manufacturing and quality management system
  • Strong working knowledge of Continuous Process Improvement
