The Senior Tax Analyst in the Ad Valorem tax group is responsible for contributing to the development of tax strategies to help minimize the property tax liability for the company; keeping apprised of current assessment practices and monitoring legislation that could affect the company.  Other responsibilities include, but are not limited to:


  • Prepares assigned tax returns.

  • Processing tax appraisal notices.

  • Represent the company at hearings and at the appeal boards

  • Maintains property tax database.

  • Gathers fixed asset data and planning strategies for minimization of property tax expense.

  • Will also be required to interact with other departments within the Company.

  • Travel flexibility is required.



 

 The successful candidate will meet the following qualifications:


  • A minimum of a Bachelor's degree or higher in Business, Finance, Economics or Accounting is required.

  • 5+ yrs. of property tax valuation and/or appeals experience with industry or accounting firm.

  • Centrally assessed property and midstream oil & gas experience a strong plus.

  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and in writing, are required (interaction with government officials, management and staff).

  • Strong knowledge of multi-state property tax laws with the ability to research and document complex tax issues.

  • Proficiency with spreadsheet and database applications is required.

  • Technically proficient in personal property valuation is required; Unit valuation a plus.

  • Experience in negotiating with local taxing authorities a plus.

  • Willingness and ability to travel up to 10% of the time is required.
