The Therapist Intern may provide individual, family and/or group therapy to clients on the assigned caseload
while supervised by an approved licensed supervisor. Depending on the specific program to which the Therapist
Intern is assigned,services may be provided in community clinics, schools, homes, or in a combination ofsettings
as needed to meet program goals and client needs. Client populations are defined by program specifications. The
Therapist Intern may be promoted into a full time Therapist I position at the first pay period following the
posted licensure.


 



  • Conducts intake assessments to collect necessary background information, assess medical and clinical
    status of clients, and determine appropriate diagnosis according to DSMV standards and definitions.
    Makes determinations on the nature of emotional and behavioral problems to be addressed and the level
    of therapy required, including consultation with psychologist/psychiatrist staff.

  • Develops treatment plans to establish goals and objectives for client treatment. Defines treatment problems
    based on the intake assessment and diagnosis, addressing behaviors that contributed to admission to the
    program. Writes objectivesin clear, measurable terms, emphasizing behaviors that are required to move the
    individual to a lower level of care. 

  • Ensures client participation in treatment planning and, when working with children, partners with
    caregivers in the development of the treatment plan and throughout treatment, identifying and addressing
    any barriers to participation, as needed. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS / REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must have successfully completed the requirements for graduation and be eligible to sit for licensing exam at time
    of offer. Driver’s license with three points or less, if required to transport clients.



  • May require the incumbent to obtain, maintain and provide the contact number of a cellular telephone. The
    incumbent would be required to be available and respond to work related telephone calls during specified hours.




  • May require work in areas with community violence or communities at-risk. May require work in schools or
    other buildings that do not have ideal workspaces or do not offer access to supportive technology on-site



WORKING CONDITIONS / PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:


The position incumbent may be exposed to potentially emotionally demanding situations such as crises and
related behavior intervention. Must be able to tolerate periods of significant job-related stress.


Must be able to move freely between locations which may or may not be accessible to individuals with physical
disabilities. Position requires intermittent standing, sitting, walking and physically capable of lifting and moving
files/supplies/equipment up to 25 lbs. Individual requires sufficient visual and hearing acuity to perform duties
of position.


Catholic Charities’ policy requires employees in this position to be fully vaccinated for COVID-19, which includes a process for requesting exemption.
