The Director of Product Strategy is responsible for developing and executing strategies to grow revenue for targeted applied markets. This role works with R&D, marketing department, product managers and client relations team members to develop and execute on market growth strategies. It is accountable for the marketing, in close partnership with product management, of existing and new products to drive revenue growth. This role also supports sales activities by creating strategic plans, technical marketing collateral, and sales training material to communicate value proposition for specific applications, clients and market segments.
Responsibilities
Champion and lead market segmentation growth strategies, basing plans on market trends, understanding of competitor positioning, technical advancements, client needs and quality/regulatory related requirements
Lead development of strategic planning process, identifying strengths and gaps in the portfolio and required strategic investments to fill gaps
Work closely with product management, manage the lifecycle of products and services including strategic marketing plan, collateral, sales training tools, and pricing guidance
Focal point to develop, draft, and review marketing collateral for protein products
Accountable for product promotions through trade show planning including presentations/posters, networking, and website content
Amplify product sales by understanding industry trends, client feedback, and the general market environment and translating this information into actionable task to accelerate sales growth
Actively develop relationships with key opinion leader(s) and key clients in target applied market segments
Accountable for the launch of new products and services. Responsible for distributing, creating, and implementing New Product Introduction plan with cross functional teams including general management, product management, operations, marketing, client relations, and field sales
Identify new product and product extension opportunities in collaboration with R&D, scientific operations, client relations, field sales, and marketing.
Assess IP landscape and support strategies for various products and applications
Develop strategies and drive global distribution of products and services outside the US
Anticipate market trends and, with a coordinated effort across all functional areas, discontinue the sale of obsolete products
Required Skills
Clear understanding of recombinant protein production
Broad understanding of gene editing, cell and gene therapy fields
Excellent written and oral skills with ability to present technical information
Excellent computer skills

Must-Haves
B.S. or B.A. in scientific field required (i.e. molecular biology, biology, biochemistry, microbiology, biotechnology)
Advanced graduate degree preferred
10+ years’ experience in a Life Science Marketing, Product Management or Business Development position in the biotechnology industry
Experience in client and market segmentation creating strategic product roadmaps
Strong business acumen, analytical, decision making, communication and influencing skills
Must be able to accomplish results in a cross functional team, exhibiting strong leadership, organizational and communication skills
