Job Description:


  • JOB SUMMARY
    • Reports to the Manager. Prepares patient meals according to specifications and delivers patient meals in a timely manner. Sets up and serves food in the hospital cafeteria and runs the cash register as assigned. Washing of all dishes created by food production and preparation, café set up, patient meals, café meals and special functions. Operates cash register. Cleans and stocks grab and go items in serving line. Helps kitchen staff as needed. To set up buffet and salad bar and serve employees and other customers.

  • JOB SPECIFICATIONS

    • Education and Experience
      • The knowledge, skills and abilities as indicated below are normally acquired the successful completion of a high school diploma or equivalent. The completion of a high school diploma or GED is required within 6 months of associates start date. Experience in food service is preferred.



    • Knowledge & Skills

      • Seeks guidance and remains knowledgeable of, and complies with, all applicable federal and state laws, as well as hospital policies that apply to assigned duties.


      • Complies with hospital expectations regarding ethical behavior and standards of conduct. Complies with federal and hospital requirements in the areas of protected health information and patient privacy.


      • Attendance at one in-service each year to review hospital policies and procedures is mandatory.


      • Ability to work quickly without sacrificing accuracy or customer service.


      • Must be able to read and understand menus (in English).


      • Good communication skills.




    • Working Conditions

      • Works in a clean and well lighted hospital and patient care environment with exposure to extreme temperatures, humidity, noise and wet floors.


      • Associate may be exposed to cleaning solutions, blood borne pathogens, infectious disease and other hazardous waste which may require the use of goggles and gloves.




    • Physical Demands
      • Frequent lifting (up to 60 pounds), bending, stooping, pushing, and pulling. Work may require an awkward or straining position to be assumed for a short period of time. Must be able to stand and/or walk entire shift.
