Purpose



 



Provides data-based guidance, recommendations and assistance to the Merchandising Department.  Works jointly with internal I/T and Merchandising teams to ensure timely achievement of promotion analysis objectives.  Leads the promo and pricing analytical team for Merchandising, creating and delivering all analytical reports needed throughout Merchandising.  Manages the Analysts using promotional guidelines, marketplace and category financial targets, and competitive data to produce optimized promotional pricing recommendations for assigned marketplaces and categories.  This information is provided to the Merchandising department for review and action.  Review and action includes “forwarding look” analysis for events and “post look” analysis of promotional activities, category performance, customer data, ecommerce trends, and marketing efficiency.



 


 
















Job Responsibilities and Accountabilities



 



·         Manages promo and pricing effectiveness serving as the primary point-of contact in facilitating the data gathering, internal resource mobilization, and analytical processes.

·         Reviews analysis and performance insights throughout Merchandising to jointly develop recommendations with the Merchandising team on how to improve promotional effectiveness.

·         Manages pre and post reporting for all promotional and pricing activity.

·         Owns implementation process and leads team responsible for rolling out promotion analysis tools, best practices, and refined processes for the Merchandising team.

·         Creates and communicates all analytical reporting for the Merchandising team on a weekly and daily basis.

·         Manages the Merchandising who identify and validate promotional opportunities (future) and post-promotion (past) within a given category, market or division using category roles, competitive pricing, frequency reports, elasticity reports, market data and many other sources.  This information is provided to the Merchandising organization for review and action.

·         Creates and distributes promotional activity reports that helps the Merchandising team to identify all investment spend by type and category performance.

·         Creates and distributes base pricing reports that helps the Merchandising team to manage Margin and Product mix.

·         Creates and distributes market level Competitive Price Checks, Merchandising Initiative, Market Share and Remodel/Special activity reporting.

·         Supports ad-hoc needs of the organization and evaluates programs and initiatives.

·         Supports confidential analytic needs of the executive leadership team.

·         Utilizes multiple data sources including shipping, scans, customer loyalty, and P&L to get best understanding and recommendations to support the profitability of the company.

Job Requirements



 



 



Relevant Experience, Education, Certification, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities



·         Bachelor’s degree preferred

·         5-10 years business experience required

·         Experience in financial planning, analysis and operational improvement

·         Retail experience with track record on delivering results including promotion planning and ad writing

·         Detailed knowledge of merchandising processes, especially promotion planning/execution

·         Proven ability to troubleshoot and develop creative, innovative solutions to business challenges

·         Experience in managing changes and improving business performance and efficiency

·         Leadership skills to lead cross functional teams

·         Strong communication skills

·         Proven project management skills

 



 



 



Physical Environment



·         Most work is performed in a temperature-controlled office environment.

·         Incumbent may sit for long periods of time at desk or computer terminal.

·         Incumbent may use calculators, keyboards, telephone, and other office equipment during normal workday.

·         Stooping, bending, twisting, and reaching may be required in completion of job duties.

·         Position requires some travel ~25%
