Job Description:

A Direct Support Professional is an employee who provides certain services to help maintain and strengthen a residents independence and dignity in a family life atmosphere, and who safeguards the living environment that may be disrupted by illness, social maladjustment or other situations that may develop. The Direct Support Professional helps the residents to regain abilities that are temporarily impaired or to adjust permanent disabilities. The Direct Support Professional is responsible to the coordinator or designee.

Requirements:

• A high School diploma or equivalent is necessary for all applicants
• Applicants must be aged 18 and over and be able to read, write, and speak english.
• Experience in health care, or group residential setting but all are welcome to apply and be interviewed
• Applicants must have good mental and physical health and be able to bend, lift, and transfer residents (may not always be necessary).
• Drivers licenses are not needed but are a plus.
• Applicants should be available to work flexible hours (part-time)
• Show an interest and a caring attitude to residents regardless of age, race, religion, gender, nationality, or mental status.
• Willingness to learn from supervision and a need for confidentiality in regards to the details of any assignment will be an asset.
• Applicants should have good note taking skills as well as the ability to work well in a group or independently.
• Staff are responsible for monitoring consumer behavior in and out of the home, accompanying to doctors appointments and keeping proper documentation from healthcare team, keep contact with members of consumers care team to ensure proper care is given.
