As an Architecture Senior Manager, you will lead your team to architect and design large-scale global software applications, systems, platforms, services and technologies. As a key leader in the organization you will have the opportunity to work directly with partner IT and business teams, owning and driving major deliverables across all aspects of architecture and software delivery.
The Architect Senior Manager is primarily responsible for the development, implementation and communications of architecture roadmaps to ensure that technical systems are scalable, reliable, secure, supportable and achieve business & IT performance and budgetary objectives. You will lead cross-functional team efforts to define architectures for strategic and tactical projects to ensure that alignment to architecture roadmap strategies are achieved. You will provide guidance to IT development teams on architecture’s framework, patterns, best practices, approved technologies and tools & solutions. As a leader in the organization you will be responsible for the architecture assessment and the communications of system requirements.

Responsibilities include:
Building a high performing architecture team:
Continually focus on team’s professional development
Work closely with Product Management, Solution Train Management, Release Train Management, Reliability Engineering and Digital partners to ensure collaboration on deliverables
Create a talent strategy for the architecture organization and align hiring with the strategy and Digital growth plans
Technical Leadership:
Provide architectural and ‘hands on’ technical leadership across a number of product streams
Strive to build better architecture practices, patterns and documentation
Collaborate on the architecture and engineering roadmap
Ensure that the skills of the architecture organization are kept aligned with business as well as technology
Provide technical support and direction to the engineering director
Foster innovation within your team and the larger architecture community
Business Leadership:
Participate in strategic planning to achieve technical and business alignment with team, leadership chain, and with customers
Work with Product Management, Solution Train Management, and Release Train Management to understand future business needs and provide a technical strategy
Work to create a culture of trust and support across the geographical teams (will contribute to Digital overall strategy)
Qualifications:
Has prior experience managing architects
Deep understanding of cloud based distributed software architecture and design
Experience designing software architectures for scalability, reliability and performance.
Knowledge of professional architecture practices & best practices, including design patterns
Experience with back-end distributed systems
A passion for people management and mentorship
Experience with the SAFe and SCRUM methodology for agile software development
5+ years of leadership experience
10+ years of related experience
Demonstrated ability to prioritize work environment and make independent decisions.
Ability to present architecture concepts and ideas both verbally and in writing to executive staff, business sponsors and technical staff to ensure that all of IT and its business clients understands and supports the architecture direction.

Growth of the individuals that you manage
Delivery stakeholders have early/often participation in solution design, with transparency to solution objectives
Implementation work shows evidence of reuse for broader needs, and shows balance of anticipating future needs
Team members feel they are part of the solution ideation and elaboration on approach
Healthy backlog of non-functional and technical features for architecture roadmap is maintained and managed
