Job Summary: The University of Houston - Victoria, School of Education, Health Professions, and Human Development invites applications for a visionary leader to serve as administrator of the baccalaureate nursing program in Victoria, Texas. This is a 12-month, tenure-track, open-rank position. The individual will provide full program oversight and development. The successful candidate will be expected to maintain a presence on the Victoria campus.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Establishes student-centered, innovative nursing curriculum that can be delivered both online and face-to-face
Manages and develops strategies to recruit students into the baccalaureate program
Leads all program evaluation and accreditation activities (CCNE)
Seeks out, develops and maintains positive, collaborative relationships with communities of interest to inform program development and decision-making about the educational preparation of nurses
Recruits, develops, and maintains qualified faculty and staff
Oversees admission, academic progression, and graduation of students
Coordinates with Dean of Education, Health Professions, and Human Development and the Provost and VPAA for all correspondence necessary for the Board of Nursing and other accrediting bodies
Creates and maintain an environment conducive to teaching and learning, including student learning outcomes for program as a whole and individual courses
Directs the maintenance of records, legal documents required by the State or other professional organizations, textbook adoptions, grade reporting, and student attendance, and advising
In collaboration with the school’s dean develops and oversees program budget
Promotes the application and administration of grants
Serves on the Texas Organization of Baccalaureate and Graduate Nursing Education (TOBGNE), Texas Association of Deans and Directors of Professional Nursing Programs (TADDPNP), and American Association of Colleges of Nursing (AACN), representing the Nursing Program
Attends key nursing conferences, including TOBGNE, TADDPNP and the AACN Semiannual Dean/Director’s meetings and other meetings as deemed appropriate to positioning the Nursing Program to accomplish the mission, strategic goals, and expected outcomes;
Seeks external financial support for the RN-to-BSN program, including endowed scholarships and professorships
Required Qualifications:
Doctoral degree from accredited institution
MSN and a minimum of two years clinical practice experience
Experience with CCNE accreditation process
Commitment to the University's mission of creating a destination campus
Knowledge of cutting-edge instructional technologies
Strong experience with Blackboard learning management system
Excellent communication and organizational skills
Clinical and leadership experience and current licensure
Familiarity with transfer agreements from community colleges
Preferred Qualifications:
Three years’ experience as a BSN program administrator, such as course coordinator, teaching chair, program director/coordinator, or department chair
Record of scholarship and service
Rank: Open-rank/tenured/tenured track
Salary: Competitive and negotiable based on experience
