LABORATORY MANAGER

Since 1976, THE WOMAN'S HOSPITAL OF TEXAS has been the state's premier facility dedicated to the health and well-being of women, newborns and children. The hospital's 397 beds offers expertise and outstanding care in breast health, imaging, gynecology, obstetrics, high-risk pregnancy, neonatology, minimally-invasive surgery and pediatric care.
The Woman's Hospital of Texas is affiliated with HCA Houston Healthcare, part of the HCA Healthcare Gulf Coast Division. The division is a comprehensive network of hospitals, outpatient surgery centers, emergency centers and diagnostic imaging facilities in greater Houston, Corpus Christi and South Texas. Facilities include: 17 hospitals, nine ambulatory care centers, 13 off-campus emergency centers, and a regional transfer center.

WHAT YOU WILL DO IN THIS ROLE:

* Under the supervision of the Laboratory Director, The Laboratory Manager is responsible and held accountable for providing overall direction of the Laboratory.

* Assists the Laboratory Director with overseeing operational issues of the Laboratory with constant attention to monthly reports.

* Oversees the day-to-day operation of the Laboratory department.

* In the absence of the Laboratory Director, assumes responsibility for the department through consultation with the Chief Operating Officer as needed.

* Coordinates schedules for Laboratory department. Ensures appropriate staffing for all shifts.

* Responsible for supervising all quality control performed in the Laboratory.

QUALIFICATIONS

WHAT QUALIFICATIONS YOU WILL NEED:

* Requires BS in Medical Technology with certification as MT or CLS from ASCP, AMT, or NCA.

* Requires five years recent experience under a qualified director/manager in a clinical laboratory performing high complexity testing.

* Necessitates an in-depth knowledge of techniques, principles, and instrumentation, and their relationships.
