The Woman's Hospital of Texas is affiliated with HCA Houston Healthcare, part of the HCA Healthcare Gulf Coast Division. The division is a comprehensive network of hospitals, outpatient surgery centers, emergency centers and diagnostic imaging facilities in greater Houston, Corpus Christi and South Texas. Facilities include: 17 hospitals, nine ambulatory care centers, 13 off-campus emergency centers, and a regional transfer center.

WHAT YOU WILL DO IN THIS ROLE:
Patient Safety Screener

Performs screening functions in compliance with hospital policies and procedures:

* Address visitors, patients and colleagues with dignity and respect

* Screen each visitors, patients and colleagues against current screening tool provided at entrances

* Advise visitors, patients and colleagues is they have any signs or symptoms based on the screening tool definitions they many not enter the building and should follow-up with:

* For visitors and patients- their Primary Care Physician

*

For colleagues- they should return home and contact their Director and Employee Health

*

Advise visitors, patients and colleagues that a mask should be worn at all times while in the hospital. * Responsible for physical appearance

* Wear PPE at Screening Entrance at all times

* Follows chain of command and reaches out for assistance as needed

Patient Safety Tech

*

Performs patient care functions in compliance with hospital policies and procedures:
*

Assists patients with activities of daily living.
*

Assists with diagnostic and therapeutic procedures.
*

Assists in admitting, transferring, and discharging of patients.
*

Assists with management of supplies and equipment.
*

Keeps licensed nurse informed of patient activities/changes in condition. * Responds in a customer friendly atmosphere.

*

Answers call lights and refers to licensed nurse, as needed.
*

Responsible for physical appearance of the nursing unit.
*

Functions as a personal caregiver, performing comfort care measures as appropriate or assigned (reading to patient, interacting with patient, this is NOT just observing patient
*

Provides observation for patients with special patient safety requirements.
*

Demonstrates skill in operation of video cameras/monitors.
*

Utilizes the escalation process to alert staff about patients with increasing patient safety needs (Code Fall).
*

Assists unit/floor when needed during times direct patient observation not needed (i.e. patient out for tests, surgery, therapy)

QUALIFICATIONS

QUALIFICATIONS:

* CNA License Preferred

* American Red Cross or American Heart Association Basic Life Support Course (BLS or BCLS) and Certification

*

Previous experience in hospital/nursing home patient care setting preferred * De-Escalation-A Culture of Safety, health stream course annually

*

NVCI (Non-Violent Crisis Intervention) offered by HCA Houston Healthcare.

* Will need to be obtained within 90 days of employment.
