We are currently recruiting for an Internal Controls Consultant.  This position is a member of the North American Internal Controls Team which supports K-C businesses and functions to ensure operations are conducted in a manner that complies with all internal control requirements. The Internal Controls Consultant partners with businesses and functional teams to study, evaluate, and recommend control improvements.  He or she often participates as an advisory member of project teams to guide teams on control matters as new processes are developed.  He or she will also assist Internal and External Audit teams in audit planning to ensure efficiency, and will engage in discussion of proposed audit findings and remediation of audit findings by businesses and functions.

This position reports to the North American Assistant Regional Controller, and is part of the Kimberly-Clark Corporate Controller’s group.

Maintaining a strong internal control environment is essential to K-C.  A strong and consistent understanding of controls, a common corporate internal control vision, and consistent communication to customers is required to ensure success.

Core Accountabilities
The scope of this position includes K-C North American business, across the U.S., Canada, and Mexico, having approximately $10 billion in annual Net Sales.   It spans.  The members of the North American team are expected to set the global standard for excellence in internal control, and at times collaboration with internal control counterparts in Europe, Latin America, Asia, the Middle East, and Africa will be required.


  • Lead or assist on internal control projects

  • Develop and drive continuous improvement initiatives to ensure the company is getting good value for its investment in controls

  • Work with process owners on corporate initiatives and new or changed processes to ensure controls are addressed adequately and efficiently

  • Work with businesses and functions to ensure that a strong internal control environment exists, and that key controls and other requirements are being properly implemented and monitored

  • Drive efforts to facilitate the corporate move toward a principles and risk-based approach to controls through effective communications, change management and training

  • Collaborate with businesses, business functions, and Internal Audit in the development of standard internal control programs and leading control practices

  • Engage in and lead activities and initiatives to raise the awareness and knowledge level of internal controls, and provide targeted or general training to employees related to their internal control responsibilities

  • Serve as the face of the Controller’s Office to business teams for all internal control questions, interpretations, or issues

  • Develop talent and capability of self, team, and customers

  • Be a source of strong internal control knowledge to the organization

Qualifications


  • An undergraduate degree in finance or accounting (preferred) or another business-related field

  • 10-20 years of experience in accounting, finance, or a business-related function

  • 3 years of direct experience with and strong knowledge of internal controls, including Corporate Financial Instructions (or equivalent), SOX and GAAP, with expert knowledge in several areas

  • Knowledge of ERP systems, specifically SAP, is preferred

This role is available for local candidates already authorized to work in the role’s country only. K-C will not provide relocation support for this role outside of country, this role is available for in-country relocation only.
