I. JOB SUMMARY

The Senior Paralegal will primarily support the Employment Law, Information Governance & Litigation team in the Legal Department by providing efficient, timely and effective paralegal support on legal technology, information governance (including records management, data classification, and eDiscovery), litigation and investigation and other related duties.

II. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

-Work with attorneys and cross-functional teams to assess, design and implement technology and processes for Records Management including retention schedules, Legal holds, and eDiscovery for pre-case assessments, administrative proceedings, investigative matters, and litigation with a focus on compliance and litigation readiness

-Help with responding to subpoenas

-Monitor and share best practices and trends on legal technology, particularly tools related to information governance and eDiscovery

-Set up processes that help drive efficiency and effectiveness of legal department operations

-Help with investigations, conducting interviews, legal research, document collection and eDiscovery (including developing effective searches using eDiscovery tools, reviewing results, and assisting with document production)

-Track complaints, investigations, pre-case assessments, and litigation

-Assist in completing data inventories and data protection impact assessments

-Assist in collecting information to respond to third-party subpoenas

-Research and respond to information requests from internal and external departments and management regarding various corporate and related matters and other like tasks as necessary

-Help train on using information governance tools including eDiscovery

-Stay current on best practices in information governance and legal technology

III. MINIMUM EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, SKILLS

-Five or more years of paralegal experience in a law firm or corporate legal department

-Significant experience working in an eDiscovery or litigation support environment including knowledge of the litigation process, eDiscovery best practices, and understanding of the technology supporting litigation efforts (e.g. Relativity)

-Experience with records management, retention schedules, data classification and legal hold processes

-Affinity for learning new technology

-Proven track record of collaborating with cross-functional teams (e.g. human resources and IT) and third-party vendors in developing and implementing legal technology solutions

-Self-motivated, proactive and resourceful to identify best practices, solutions and move projects to completion

-Highly organized; able to effectively manage multiple projects and responsibilities, by applying strong prioritization skill-set and sound judgment

-Proficiency in using a variety of software, processes and tools to assist legal departments be more efficient

-Strong problem-solving skills

-Strong written communication, proofreading and editing skills

-Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively and work collaboratively even in stressful situations

-Highly responsive and communicative in fast-moving environment

-Proven ability to maintain discretion and strict confidentiality in all matters

Preferred education and skills

-Four-year college degree

-Paralegal certification

-Experience with Privacy and/or Employment Law
