Maintaining current knowledge and skills to performance of a wide variety of quantitative and qualitative analyses of body fluids and other materials to provide the physician with information for the diagnosis and treatment of patients. Must maintain a minimum of 12 CE credits per year. Self directed. Able to work independantly and assist in the operation of the department to ensure the timely reporting of results in the absence of a technical specialist or manager and resolving issues that may be presented. Provides assistance to the section manager as needed, taking on a leadership role within the section. Operation of laboratory computer system as it relates to daily laboratory operations. Reporting and communicating results to physicians, medical staff and offices including documentation of critical values as per policy. Demonstrates service excellence in all patient care activities. Promotes teamwork and quality patient care in all interactions with co-workers, physician offices and other departments.

RESPONSIBILITIES

* 2. Operation of laboratory computer system as it relates to daily laboratory operations. This includes the running of daily worklists and resolving issues that may be presented.

* 3. Self directed. Able to work independantly and assist in the operation of the department to ensure the timely reporting of results in the absence of a technical specialist or manager..

* 4. Demonstrates service excellence in all patient care activities. Promotes an environment of service excellence in work area. Promotes teamwork and patient care quality in all interactions with co-workers, physician offices and other departments. Presents a professional image. Actively promotes the Hospital's and the Department's Mission, Vision, Values and Goals.

* 5. Reporting and communicating results to physicians, medical staff and offices including documentation of critical values as per policy. QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION

BS in Medical Technology or equivalent. ASCP certification with 5 years experience at Greenwich Hospital or 7 years experience at Greenwich Hospital without ASCP certification.

EXPERIENCE

Documented expertise in all departments of job responsibility. Phlebotomy skills preferred.

LICENSURE

ACSP (or equivalent) certification preferred.-

SPECIAL SKILLS

Working in a normal clinical laboratory environment, handling test samples, utilizing the laboratory computer system. Close concentration and attention to detail are required. Must demonstrates service excellence by promoting teamwork and patient quality care in all interactions with co-workers, physician offices and other departments.

PHYSICAL DEMAND

Lifting of medium weight objects. Intense concentration with instruments or procedures for more than half of the day. Works under stressful conditions for most of the day.
