Support for Early Learning and Families (SELF) collaborates with the Educational Service District (ESD) 112 in Vancouver, WA to provide staffing and talent management for over 30 Child Care Centers in Southwest WA. General Description of Position:?
Under the supervision of the Center Director, the Early ECEAP Lead Teacher is responsible for providing a safe and supervised educational setting for children whose age range from birth up-to-three years in the Early ECEAP Program. Teachers work within the framework of age appropriate curriculum and lesson plans, to promote the health, nutrition and education of Early Head Start children in their care.
Minimum/Preferred Qualifications & Skills:

Short Certificate (20 credits) in Early Childhood Education.
Associate's degree or higher in early childhood education, elementary education, special education, or related field.
Two years successful experience working with children.
18 years of age or older (Department of Children Youth and Families minimum licensing requirement).
Ability to work within a team and work effectively with other people.
Ability to follow directions and follow through efficiently on assigned tasks.
Must demonstrate the following qualities: self-motivated, self-directed, able to make good judgements, creative, reliable, and dependable.??
Sincere interest in working with children and families.?
Must present a professional and positive demeanor in behavior and dress.??
Demonstrate an understanding and appreciation for diverse ethnic and economic backgrounds of families served.??
Knowledge of child care programs and services.
Two years' experience in management, supervision, or leadership.

Essential Functions:

Plan developmentally appropriate child centered curriculum.
Plan the program to meet the needs of the individual child with concerns for their interests, disabilities, special talents, cultural background and individual styles.
Develop and follow class schedule which includes staff responsibilities.
Plan and set up the environment of the room with well-defined interest areas. Set up toys and materials so that they are accessible to children.
Post and implement appropriate guidance techniques and current lesson plans in the classroom.
Supervise, interact, and play with children during assigned times of responsibilities.
Maintain a safe, orderly, clean and healthy room environment, including administering first aid and handling emergencies.
Assist with toileting, diapering, and hygiene needs of children.
Establish and maintain positive communication and confidentiality using collaborative methods to problem solve and interact with families, children, and staff.
Maintain all center records in an accurate and timely manner and in accordance with policy and procedures.
Provide direction to child care assistants, temporary staff, and volunteers.
Complete child assessments as required throughout the program year.
Support and follow the direction of the center supervisor.
Follow USDA guidelines (including meal counts and service procedures)
Participate regularly in staff meetings, in-service programs, and workshops. This may require the ability to work occasional nights and weekends.
Other duties as assigned

Physical/Strength Requirements:

Regular attendance during scheduled work hours.
Travel throughout SW Washington as assigned.
Requires the ability to move or traverse about inside the office to access file cabinets, office machinery, center activities, etc.??
Moderate or frequent exposure to loud noises, outside weather elements, and temperature changes.??
Lifting requirements include the ability to exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, 20 pounds of force frequently, and up to 10 pounds constantly to move objects including, the human body.?
Job involves sitting, standing, walking, lifting, carrying, reaching, grasping, bending, stooping, crouching, pushing, and/or pulling. Position involves physical mobility with or without reasonable accommodation to perform essential functions of the job.??

Employment Requirements:

Successful completion of a portable background check and clearance through the Department of Children Youth and Families.
Valid certification in Child/Adult CPR, first-aid, HIV/Blood Borne Pathogens training and current food handler's card.
Valid negative TB test completed within the previous twelve months.
Provide an initial health exam completed by medical provider showing you are free from communicable diseases.
Provide documentation showing immunity to the MMR.
Participation in the State Training and Registry System (STARS) program required. Initial basic training to be attended on employee's time and at employee expense within 3 months of employment (may be waived for qualified employees).
Ten hours of continuing education required annually per child care licensing requirements. Completion of 10 hours of ECE training required annually.
