The PNC Bank MEP Team is a specialized segment of the Realty Services Operations Group. The MEP team is responsible for the specification, design, construction, operations and maintenance of all mechanical, electrical, plumbing, fire protection and life safety systems within PNC owned and operated facilities.

The Engineering and Life Safety Managers on the MEP team act as internal consultants, project managers, problem solvers and disaster recovery specialists in support of the entire Operations Team. Our managers are most often leading efforts such as equipment capital replacements, mechanical and electrical system retrofits, critical systems test and maintenance, data center operations, business continuity and disaster recovery, risk management, and new construction design and commissioning support. The team is comprised of individuals strategically located across the PNC footprint.

Job Description
1) Serve as subject matter expert for all engineered systems including but not limited to mechanical, electrical, plumbing, fire suppression and life safety systems (collectively known as MEP).
2) Act as a technical consultant and subject matter expert to all members of the Realty Services organization.
3) Develop standards and procedures for the installation, inspection, test and maintenance of all MEP systems.
4) Develop contractual documents including statement of services, scope of work and task lists for the management of MEP vendors. Manage the high-level relationship with all service providers and consultants; conduct regular reviews to assess performance metrics.
5) Respond to any emergency scenario, including disaster recovery on a 24/7/365 basis.
6) Manage change control procedures for the inspection, test and maintenance of critical power and engineered systems at all major buildings and operations centers.
7) Develop annual capital budgets for the replacement of engineered systems. Manage capital replacement projects within assigned territory.
8) Review all MEP expense projects within assigned territory to ensure performed work meets PNC standards and goals.
9) Actively pursue PNCs energy reduction goals through retrofit and improvement projects; support PNCs sustainability and green culture.
10) In collaboration with PNC Design and Construction and consulting engineers and architects develop and maintain standard specifications for all appropriate MasterFormat divisions (typically Div 11, 21-26). Assist in design development and product selection to meet all functional and sustainability requirements.
11) Review all phases of drawings for new construction projects; ensure all projects meet functional and sustainability requirements to best serve our clients. Conduct 50%, punch-list and final inspection of all projects. Act as the independent commissioning agent for all LEED projects.

The Engineering Manager will be directly responsible for the performance of our buildings and systems. Because of the unique and demanding job requirements the Facilities Engineer may interact on a daily basis with senior leadership and executives. The successful candidate must be able to thrive in this important and highly visible role.

In order to effectively serve in the role of subject matter expert and consultant, regular in person visits are required throughout the assigned portfolio. Travel, including air travel, is a requirement of the position and is estimated to be 20%. Travel schedules are determined largely by the Engineering Manager in support of enterprise goals.

Job Description


  • Directs maintenance operations and activities relating to the infrastructure and installation of critical hardware in a manufacturing plant or site.

  • Ensures that all assigned PNC building infrastructures are safe and functional.

  • Oversees mechanical, electrical, plumbing and fire safety systems and projects throughout all PNC buildings. Develops standards, policies, guidelines and procedures to meet regulatory demands and foster a sound working environment.

  • Collaborates with, coaches, and may lead PNC facility engineers to maintain the PNC building infrastructure. May provide guidance and advice to outside engineers on an as-needed basis

  • Designs a systematic operating budget plan and capital expense project plan to manage and coordinate resources efficiently and effectively.

Work Experience

Roles at this level typically require a university / college degree. Higher level education such as a Masters degree, PhD, or certifications is desirable. Industry relevant experience is typically 8+ years. Specific certifications are often required. In lieu of a degree, a comparable combination of education and experience (including military service) may be considered.
