A metal fabrication company in Pleasant Prairie, WI is looking for a Shop Supervisor - Stainless Steel Fabrication for a 7:00 am - 3:30 pm opportunity.
Responsibilities:
Project Scheduling - Workforce Allocation-Notification of project schedule/delivery date from Project Manager. Allocating/assigning workforce as needed to deliver by specified date. Monitor workflow & job progress - adjust schedule and work force as needed.
Workforce (HR) Management-Processing Time Tickets. Managing employee absence/time-off and adjusting work assignments as needed. Supervisor is the first layer of management on the shop floor - all shop personnel report to him/her.
Safety Management-Monthly Presentations of specific safety rules. Ongoing monitoring/enforcing of shop safety rules.
Machine/Shop Maintenance-Monitor maintenance schedules for all equipment. Schedule PM for all.
Equipment Management - Responsible for all of the capital equipment in the shop (all machines, equipment, facilities, vehicles). Supervisor has access to credit accounts to purchase materials for the shop/field.
HR functions: managing a diverse workforce
Project information - complete and in a timely fashion: Material, design, customer expectations, delivery dates, finish and weld spec, etc.
Workforce management & project work delegation/allocation: what job to give to whom, etc.
This position involves frequent exposure to noise in excess of 85 dB, as well as other physical hazards associated with a steel fabrication environment. Work indoors approximately 95% of time.
Infrequently involves exposure to temperature extremes and fumes/odors consistent with a steel fabrication environment.
Constant standing and frequent walking, climbing, reaching, bending and stooping is required. Often working in tight spaces with awkward postures.
Lifting requirement may occasionally exceed 50 lbs. Regular lifting of up to 50 lbs. is common. (It is expected that you will find help lifting any load in excess of 50 lbs.)
Responsible for directing and coordinating activities on the shop floor: work-flow process, project scheduling, managing machine repairs and maintenance, shipping and receiving, safety, and workforce administration.
Act as a role model for best work practices and establishes an environment of continuous improvement, teamwork, and customer focus.
Responsible for assigning work to others, checking the work of others, training and instructing others, make hiring decisions, give formal performance reviews, and making disciplinary/termination decisions.
Supervises: Laser Operator, Laser Programmer, QA/QC, Assembler, Welder, Polisher, Shipping & Receiving, Fabricator, and Field Service Technicians.
Read and interpret blueprints and/or minimal engineering drawings
Fabricate and complete prototypes or first unit for quantity run as required
Complete all stages of sheet metal fabrication including shearing, breaking, punching, drilling, and roll forming parts
Complete all stages of assembly through wiring and installation of ballasts, lamps, and other components
Check quality of each stage of production, and assume responsibility for the quality of the finished product
Qualifications:
Minimum Education: High School diploma or equivalent
Minimum Experience: 5+ years Stainless steel fabrication, welding, and polishing skills are necessary.
Other Required Experience: Leadership skills, computer literacy
Preferred Requirements: Department management and/or supervisory skills.
