Job Description:
Overall Purpose

Manages teams of technicians responsible for day-to-day construction or digital electronics activities such as the installation, turn-up and maintenance, placing, splicing, rearrangement, and/or removal of Outside Plant (OSP) including digital facilities. Manages teams of technicians responsible for the testability of remote terminals and the backup power of remote terminals during power outages, including, but not limited to, equipment deployment, fueling, equipment retrieval, remote testing/clearing of alarms and status.

Key Roles and Responsibilities

Plans and assigns work to technicians. Reviews technician performance and provides feedback and coaching to technicians designed to address performance issues. Conducts safety and quality inspections to ensure high quality and safe performance by technicians. Identifies and removes roadblocks to safe and efficient performance by technicians. Ensures that technician training is complete. Administers discipline to technicians and makes recommendations concerning long term suspensions or terminations of technicians. Receives technician grievances and resolves them at the step one level as appropriate. Ensures that work processes, standards and master plan are in conformance, and that schedules are adhered to. May be responsible for utilizing Management Systems & Operations Control (MSOC) based techniques to manage technician efficiency, performance and customer service.

Working as a Manager of Construction & Engineering, you will supervise day-to-day construction activities such as the placing, splicing, rearrangement, and removal of Outside Plant facilities.  As a member of this team, you will have technical and administrative support for subordinates (Outside Technical employees) responsible for construction placing and splicing in rural and metro areas. You will ensure that work processes, standards and master plans are in conformance, and that schedules are adhered to.  You may supervise a group of outside plant engineers and/or construction engineers.  Responsibilities may also include installation and repair of Loop Electronics.This position may be responsible for contributing to AT&T's compliance with environmental laws and regulations as applicable to its job function. This may include, but is not limited to, work related to fuel tanks, emergency and stand-by generators, boilers, hazardous waste, hazardous materials, batteries, manholes and vaults, water wells, linear and other construction projects, water discharge, or air emissions.

Qualifications

Typically, a high school diploma, GED or equivalent related network experience; Technical degree preferred.Typically, at least 3-5 years of network related technical experience. Prior supervisory experience along with time management and good communication skills required. Problem solving, self-motivating and data management skills a plus.
