What you will do

Director of Aftermarket Product Management and Customer Service will be responsible for managing and leading a team of product managers overseeing new and existing product lines to ensure revenue, gross margin and customer requirements meet company performance objectives. The position will coordinate with equipment lines of businesses in the development of aftermarket parts product roadmaps to ensure alignment throughout the lifecycle of the manufactured equipment.
In addition this position will oversee the Customer Service team responsible for identifying parts for our customers, providing quotations including price and lead times for parts, for taking orders from customers who are unable to place the orders on line and for providing order status for on line and all other orders.
In addition this position will oversee the aftermarket parts engineering team, who are responsible for managing the Service BOM’s, coordinating with product engineering on NPI and engineering changes and managing the online parts ID tools.
 
*Baltimore, MD is the preferred location but will consider well-qualifed candidates to work remotely from anywhere in the US.
 
How you will do it


  • Manages JCI aftermarket parts product management resources who manage and maintain existing aftermarket parts product lines to ensure that revenue, gross margin, sales, and inventory turns meet company performance objectives. Performing product line reviews, cost containment by sourcing and re-sourcing products and making recommendations on selection of aftermarket vendor selections and working with JCI OEM plants and suppliers.

  • Develops new products and product lines to include sales forecast, gross margin, propose initial orders quantities for warehouse operations, and provide product specifications and packaging requirements.

  • Forecasts operating costs of department and directs preparation of budget requests.

  • Asses market competition by comparing the company’s products to competitor’s products.

  • Manages and provides direction to aftermarket parts product management resources who compile all competitive information and perform product lines assessments for new and existing product lines.

  • Working collaboratively with JCI equipment product management this role assists in the product family roadmap and overall market potential for aftermarket parts in North America.

  • Develops aftermarket parts product specifications in conjunction with Engineering, warehouse operations, Service and Sales to make sure the product and packaging meets the market requirements.

  • Involvement and participation in PDP Projects ensuring compliance to Aftermarket Parts customer, business and user requirements and signs off, ensuring approval prior to Production.

  • Coordinates with sales & marketing aftermarket parts in product promotions, pricing strategies and product positioning.

  • Responsible for driving brand positioning and packaging standards across the aftermarket parts portfolio to ensure consistency and brand identity.

  • Provide direction and leadership to develop and facilitate aftermarket parts product training for the aftermarket parts sales team and distribution channel partners.

  • Work cross-functionally across the aftermarket parts organization to ensure alignment with operations, sales, pricing, engineering and IT.

  • Lead and set the strategic targets for the customer service team supporting the Aftermarket Parts business. Create a cohesive plan to provide first-in-class customer service satisfaction through timely and quality responses.

  • Responsible for providing the proper technical documentation for internal and customer facing consumption, including coordinating with engineering and equipment product management teams to provide the customer clear documentation and the most current design revision. Coordinate the phase-in phase-out of new and replacement parts. Set the strategy for parts database platform and integration with auxiliary systems.

What we look for
Required


  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Manufacturing Engineering or other related field. MBA or similar desirable.

  • Minimum of ten years of progressively experience in product management, engineering or operations process improvement.

  • Experience managing an industrial aftermarket parts organization highly preferred

  • Experience in program (preferred) or product / project management.

  • Experience leading a team of 5-10 direct reports.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Good interpersonal and team-oriented skills are required

  • Experience with Microsoft Office programs such as Excel, Access and Word and ERP systems

  • Up to 25% travel is required

  • Ability to drive a corporate initiative through a complex matrixed organization

  • Strong experience in process improvement, with an emphasis towards analytics and process management through Lean, and Six Sigma tools

  • Strong people management; willing to confront issues in an open, but tactful way.

  • Knowledge of product development process (PDP) preferred.
