The Maintenance Mechanical Engineer is tasked as a technical resource for the maintenance and operations departments, who focuses time on equipment reliability, contracted projects, and larger maintenance initiatives.  Drive continuous improvement and reducing overall costs for the site.  Works closely with the Maintenance supervisors, planner, and operations to deliver a seamless workflow between operations and maintenance.    Works with the site’s API inspector so equipment gets inspected and repaired on a timely basis.
Responsibilities:

  • Ensure compliance with mechanical integrity regulatory requirements.

  • Conformance to all safety, quality, customer, regulatory and statutory requirements.

  • Lead area reliability teams to meet manufacturing objectives (reliability goals and metrics to measure progress).

  • Perform reliability engineering analyses and implement solutions to improve equipment reliability.

  • Develop technical training programs for hourly maintenance personnel and supervision.

  • Implement equipment maintenance practices in keeping with industry best practices.

  • Monitor and oversee the modification of equipment to ensure maintenance considerations are incorporated into the design.

  • Lead development and execution of maintenance driven capital projects.

  • Oversee the execution of maintenance projects utilizing contractors.

  • Promote equipment standardization in order to manage MRO levels.

  • Develops FMEA on new or existing equipment

  • Provides solutions to reoccurring failures by performing RCA and identifying corrective actions.

  • Performs statistical data analysis to predict and minimize failures.





  • B.S. Degree in Mechanical Engineering 

  • 6+ Years in Manufacturing Engineering or Maintenance.




  • Understanding of install, recondition, repair, and troubleshoot various types of mechanical equipment throughout all areas of the plant as assigned.

  • Knowledge of rebuilding rotating equipment back to original condition to meet all of the original equipment manufacturers standards and specifications,  including using precision tools and laser alignment.

  • Familiarity with agitators, blowers, compressors, extruders, fans, gearboxes, heat exchangers, mechanical seals, piping, pressure vessels, pumps, rotary valves, safety relief devices, steam traps, vacuum pumps, valves, and other mechanical equipment.

  • Ability to read equipment drawings and PIDs.

  • Excellent analytical skills.

  • Ability to lead and motivate teams.

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities.
