JOB TITLE: Manager, Packaging Technology


DEPARTMENT: Technical Innovation


JOB SUMMARY
Manages (perform and/or coordinates) the execution of High Complexity Packaging Related Projects through its Life Cycle. Included (but not limited to) in high complexity, projects are; Equipment and/or Process Development, Integration of one or several major equipment (automation/high volume type) within an existing product line, development of new product/process.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS


• Implementation of new packaging equipment or packaging process, or transfer existing packaging equipment or process

• Training to production and technical personnel on the packaging process or packaging equipment installed

• Machine design and master planning for new packaging lines

• Project detailed plans and implementation logistic for new packaging lines or packaging process

• Equipment redesign for optimization of existing lines

• Packaging equipment installation for new lines

• Packaging equipment design reviews

• Packaging equipment design and process validation, including protocol generation, validation execution and report generation

• Packaging process setup

• Packaging raw materials improvements and/or implementation of new materials

• Assuring compliance with laws and regulations

• Payroll administration in Kronos

• Vacations and overtime administration

• Develop the packaging technology roadmap for the packaging sites to support future growth

• Constantly look for cutting edge and turnkey packaging technology that could be implemented to maintain the competitiveness of the packaging operations from cost, efficiency and quality perspective

• Promote a global approach and standardization for the packaging processes and packaging equipment across all packaging sites

• Promote a global teamwork approach with other packaging sites in the implementation of new packaging processes or new packaging equipment

• Develop and promote a culture of innovation for the packaging operations

• Packaging technology benchmarking

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES


• Previous experience with Packaging Operations and regulations

• Thorough knowledge of project management

• Thorough knowledge of the regulation (CFR 820)

• High level of competence dealing with conflicts and priorities with multidisciplinary teams

• Able to successfully manage multiple projects

• Able to prepare technical reports as well as executive reports

Able to prepare presentations to different type of audience, from Upper Management to shop floor operators

WORK ENVIRONMENT


• Generally, works in a closed environment, in office conditions, with moderate level of noise and controllable changes of temperature

• Needs to stand, walk and may be seated for a long period of time

• Uses hands to feel, finger or handle and reach

• Performs light physical effort with little exposure to adverse conditions

• Could be required to travel

• Works with a personal computer and programs to prepare documents or reports

• Applies communication skills (advanced reading, writing, and technical skills) and mathematical concepts knowledge to perform work and coordinate with others

• Needs to have high analytical capacity and level of professionalism and judgment to resolve problems

EDUCATION


• Bachelor’s degree in engineering (Industrial, Chemical, Mechanical, Electrical)

• Master’s degree preferred

• Engineering-In-Training (EIT) license preferred


EXPERIENCE

• Five to ten years of experience with similar responsibilities in a regulated industry (medical devices/pharmaceutical highly desirable)
