Description

The Area Director for the Pacific Rim will primarily provide support to the VSolvit Portfolio Directors and the Portfolio Directors' assigned Project/Program Managers (PM/PgM) for contracts and projects they manage within the Pacific Rim geographic area of responsibility. Responsible for assisting the PM/PgMs as needed with employee and customer actions, issues, and meetings that require on-site support. The Area Director for the Pacific Rim will build and enhance customer / vendor / partner relationships. The role and duties also include exploration of new business opportunities and supporting existing business development efforts with Portfolio Directors, PM/PgMs, and partners.

The Area Director for the Pacific Rim will also be directly responsible for the performance of significant technical, non-technical, projects in accordance with contract requirements and company policies, procedures, and guidelines. As the manager for those programs and projects, the Area Director for the Pacific Rim will report to the cognizant Portfolio Director(s) where their programs and/or projects organizationally reside. Will be the primary face to the customer and take ownership of the local business from a technical, administrative, contractual, financial, and personnel management perspective. The Area Director for the Pacific Rim will be responsible for the growth of their assigned programs and projects and growth of additional business as dictated by the company financial goals.

As with any position, additional expectations exist. Some of these include, but are not limited to, adhering to normal working hours, meeting deadlines, following company policies as outlined by the Employee Handbook, communicating regularly with assigned supervisor, and staying focused on the assigned tasks.

This role can be located anyplace within the Pacific Rim region. Example: Hawaii, Guam etc...

Responsibilities:

- Maintains relationships with all customers / partners within the Pacific Rim area of responsibility

- Works with Portfolio Directors on complex technical projects that support our customers

- Works with Portfolio Directors and their associated PM/PgM's, as needed, to assist in the operational and contractual aspects of their Portfolios programs and projects

- Works with Portfolio Directors to monitor subcontractor performance as needed

- Manage and support current and future customer relationships

- Provide thought leadership to project analyses and process improvement activities for those assigned programs and projects

- Responsible for the employment, training, coaching, mentoring, motivation, discipline, and performance evaluation of assigned employees. Assists Portfolio Directors and their PM/PgMs with this support as needed for those programs and projects within the Area Director for the Pacific Rim's area of responsibility

- Achieve operational objectives by contributing information and recommendations to strategic plans and reviews; preparing and completing action plans

- Resolve problems, identifies trends, determines system improvements, and implements change

- Meet financial objectives by forecasting requirements, preparing an annual budget, scheduling expenditures, analyzing variances, and initiating corrective actions

- Create a method of change management including ownership of documentation libraries, communication plans, process training, etc.

- Clearly documents and presents research reports including creation of diagrams and procedure documentation

- Responsible for driving program level recommendations through to implementation

- Possess a broad knowledge of most technical and business resources and use them to effectively coordinate team members and external resources.

- Identify, screen and evaluate new solution opportunities to address unmet customer needs.

- Utilize the appropriate technologies and ensure that customers have the solutions they need, when they need them, and in the media best suited to their requirements.

- Collaborate with architecture and operations teams to ensure solution compatibility with company standards.

- Continually enhance job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities, sharing professional publications, maintaining professional networks and professional organizations

- Provide business development support to meet company goals to include opportunity identification, capture, teaming, proposal development, and proposal review

Position Requirements

Basic Qualifications:

- Bachelor's degree in a Technical Discipline or a Business Degree with a concentration in Technology Management, and / or Management and leadership

- 7+ years of technical and supervisory experience in the management of multi- task, multi-function projects within the Department of Defense or Federal contracting environment

- 5+ years' experience managing programs or projects

- 1+ years' experience managing, developing, evaluating, and supporting teams of 15+ technical and non-technical personnel.

- 1+ years' business development experience to include opportunity identification, capture, teaming, proposal development, and proposal review

- Must be a US citizen

- Must possess an active DoD Secret security clearance

Preferred Qualifications:

- Master's Degree in a technical discipline

- PMP certification

- Possess a working knowledge of Department of Defense and/or federal procurement practices

- Possess strong analytical skills, including an understanding of business economics and financial resources

- Experience in preparing reports and briefings

- Demonstrated analytical and time-management skills

- Demonstrated ability to work as an active member of a team

- Excellent verbal and written communication skills; the ability to call, connect, and interact with all levels of an organization and/or potential customers

- Ability to professionally and confidently communicate with Executives, customer / partner / company

- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
