Crain's Detroit Business is looking for a versatile, experienced and hands-on Senior Events Producer who will manage the creation of compelling live and digital events for Michigan's leading business news source. The ideal candidate will have experience in digital as well as live events and can work with Newsroom, Advertising and Content Marketing leaders to find the best platforms for speakers and content that serve the brand's audience and sponsors. High-quality production - live and on-stage, in small groups or entirely online - is critical. The Senior Events Producer will also identify and manage sponsor and audience strategies and opportunities. Applicants must show evidence of creativity and an ability to multitask.

The ideal candidate will:
- Understand content, sponsorship and audience requirements of each event - live or digital - and select the appropriate digital platform or live venue.
- Recommend and select engagement features for audience members and sponsors.
- Build and own each event's Run of Show.
- Understand event revenue goals and build sponsorship packages to meet those goals.
- Build sponsorship sales presentations for major events.
- Understand sponsors' needs and wants and work to meet them.
- Prep speakers for events and manage throughout event process.
- Manage speaker thank-yous.
- Manage event project plans with attention to financial and time constraints.
- Manage contracts with digital platforms, venues and vendors, negotiating to achieve the most favorable terms.
- Manage all event production tasks, including (for live events) venue, A/V, food/beverage, printing (and for virtual events) video editing, slideshow production.
- Add production flourishes - music, graphics, power-point slides that either speakers or sponsors supply - as well as audience engagement techniques (break-out sessions, pop-up survey questions, etc.) to events.
- Manage overall event P&L report.
- Evaluate event's success and submit recap report to Crain's leadership team.
- Secure appropriate partners for event audience acquisition.

Desired skills:
- Strong writing, including scripting some events when required.
- Basic graphic design
- Basic video and audio editing skills.
- Podcast production experience a plus.

This position is exempt under the Fair Labor Standards Act and is not eligible for overtime pay.
