INTRODUCTION

- This position will be located at the Melwood office in Upper Marlboro, MD

- The Personnel Security Specialist requires experience using JPAS and e-QIP

- Core working hours are 8:30am to 5:00pm, Monday through Friday

- Valid Driver's license is required for this position (driving records check will be part of the pre-employment background check process)

- This position requires personnel security experience with additional investigative skills a plus

- Pre-employment background checks and drug testing are required.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

- Assist the Facility Security Officer (FSO) in initiating investigations and periodic re-investigations in JPAS as required for those personnel requiring a personnel security clearance or re-investigation

- Review electronic Personnel Security Questionnaires (PSQ) in JPAS for accuracy and completeness before submission to OPM for review/approval

- Submit fingerprints of personnel for initial security clearances, upgrades and background checks utilizing Secure Web Fingerprint Transmission (SWFT)

- Conduct initial security indoctrination briefings, security refresher briefings, foreign travel briefings/debriefings and security debriefings as required by the National Industrial Security Operations Manual (NISPOM)

- Maintain personnel security files on those personnel who have a personnel security clearance and those who undergo a background check by the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) or other government agencies

- Review site specific security forms for accuracy and completeness. Provide assistance and guidance to personnel as required

- Monitor employee's completion of the Electronic Questionnaires for Investigations Processing (e-QIP) initiated by the government agency and provide assistance and guidance as necessary

- Other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS

- Minimum of three (3) years' of applicable security experience using JPAS and E-Qip

- College degree preferred

- Completed JPAS/JCAVS Virtual Training for Security Professionals Course and other applicable CDSE courses

- Good interviewing skills with ability to effectively communicate results orally and in writing

- Excellent word processing, database management and other computer application skills to include MS Office required

- Ability to manage multiple tasks, organize and plan day-to-day responsibilities in a fast paced, complex and diverse environment

- Must be detail oriented, have the ability to adapt quickly and be able to handle changing and/or conflicting priorities

- Good communication, grammar and business writing skills required

- Self-motivated, display initiative and exercise routine decision making abilities

- Ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance
