Harrington Cancer Center is a department within the BSA Health System and has provided care for oncology patients throughout the Texas Panhandle for 35 years. We provide a unique, team approach to provide consultation, evaluation, diagnosis, and comprehensive treatment for patients of all ages.

Job Summary:

Performs clerical and clinical duties under the direction of a physician. Clerical duties may include scheduling appointments, obtaining prior authorizations and maintaining medical records. Clinical duties may include taking and recording vital signs and medical histories, preparing patient for examination and administering medications as directed by physician.

Education/Licenses/Certifications:

* Medical Assistant Certification

* American Heart Association or American Red Cross Basic Life Support Certification preferred- completion required within 90 days of hire.

Qualifications/Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

* One year experience in physician's practice preferred

* Previous experience with EMR systems preferred

* Competent use of personal computers and software programs including Office programs (Word, Excel, Outlook and Power Point)

* Position requires fluency in English language to function in job environment appropriately

* Must exhibit desire to exemplify the BSA culture, including the BSA Mission, Vision and the BSA Way

* Good interpersonal and customer service skills

* Good organizational and follow-through skills

* Ability to multi-task constantly and tolerate interruptions

* Communicate effectively with all members of the healthcare team

* Demonstrate legible handwriting or documentation of vital signs and other pertinent patient information in patient medical records and other required forms

* Possess the knowledge to recognize important patient observations and communicate it to the appropriate team member
