JOB DESCRIPTION

KPFF’s Lacey office is seeking aRoadway/Transportation Engineer with 5+ years experience in this area of expertise and a passion for roadway/transportation engineering.

This position will allow you to work with a variety of clients including Public Works Agencies, Transit Agencies, private developers, and contractors in support of their transportation projects. The work will include all aspects of a project from design and permitting through construction.

In general you will have an instrumental role in completing full PS&E for transportation projects including but not limited to roadway horizontal/vertical design, ADA compliance, pedestrian/bicycle facilities, traffic signal/interconnect design, channelization/signing, traffic control development, sewer/water improvements, and storm drainage design. You will also be responsible for preparation of technical reports and specifications, agency permitting coordination, and construction cost estimating.

You will have a unique opportunity to assist in the development and expansion of the transportation portion of our office. This will consist of support in marketing efforts such as preparation of Statement of Qualifications, attending project job interviews, and participation in marketing strategy efforts.

You will work closely with other Professional Engineers, Project Managers, AutoCAD drafters, and Administrative staff.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Qualified candidates should have a minimum of 5 years of experience in roadway/transportation engineering, Bachelors Degree, and a Civil Engineering PE License. Additional qualifications as follows:


  • Passionate about providing exceptional client service.
  • Strong technical and organizational abilities
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with colleagues and clients and to self-manage your time to ensure that commitments are met.
  • Ability to compose technical reports, memorandums, and other written communication.
  • Experience and knowledge of typical computer software programs used in civil engineering design including (AutoCAD, Civil 3D, Microsoft Office, Western Washington Hydraulic Model (WWHM), Stormshed, AutoTurn, etc.)
  • Familiarity with preparation of Scope of Work and Fees.
  • Valid driver license with ability to drive company carsto job sites and off-site client meetings.

SKILLS


  • Ability to work in a team environment
  • Willingness to participate in marketing efforts for transportation projects
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, including experience developing and maintaining project schedule, scope-of-work, and budget.
  • Ability to maintain and apply multiple client standards simultaneously
  • Familiarity with roadway design standards and permitting requirements for Local Municipalities and Agencies.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with colleagues and clients and to self-manage your time to ensure that commitments are met.
  • Familiarity with WSDOT Standard Specifications, Plans, and Design Manual.
  • Familiarity with WSDOT LAG Manual Requirements
  • Familiarity with traffic engineering analysis
