Complex HACCP Coordinator Job Summary:
The HACCP Coordinator is primarily responsible for the guidance and management of the overall regulatory policies and programs for the plant.
Primary Duties & Responsibilities:
Ensure compliance with federal poultry, sanitation and HACCP regulations, and acti as liaison between FSIS and the facility
Develop, implement and maintain food safety systems, including but not limited to HACCP, SSOPs and prerequisite programs for a slaughter and fresh poultry facility
Maintain record keeping systems to track and trend food safety systems’ data related to HACCP, SSOP and prerequisite programs documentation
Regularly review documented corrective actions and preventive measures for the SSOP and HACCP programs ensuring intentions of regulatory requirements are met
Collect data and information responding to USDA non-compliances in a timely manner
Develop and deliver food safety training courses for plant supervision and personnel propagating a healthy food safety system.
Facilitate or participate in other regulatory activities such as food defense, animal welfare, labeling requirements, etc.
Facilitate monthly HACCP team meetings
Provide direction to local QA management and supervisor staff regarding regulatory matters
Participate in customer or 3rd party audits
Job Requirements:
BS degree in Poultry Science or related field
Minimum three (3) years experience in Quality Assurance and/or Regulatory Affairs
Minimum one (1) year experience within food manufacturing environment; preferably within poultry
HACCP Certification from an approved HACCP Alliance institution
Strong communication skills (oral and written)
Physical/Environmental Factors:
Cold, damp, wet environment with temperatures ranging from 40 to 90 degrees
Stand/walk 100% of work day
Exposure to noise levels greater than 85 decibels
Bend, stoop, and lift various weights as needed
Climb stairs, frequently stoop, kneel, crawl and bend
Exposure to strong, raw meat odors
Bending, twisting, stacking, pushing and standing for long periods of time
Manual dexterity of hands and wrists
